Bang for the buck!, June 25, 2006
This turntable is probably the best choice for anyone out there. It's got the best of both worlds. It has all the important features of the flagship CDJ-1000 without the big price tag. Great feel, response, features, quality, durability. I love it!!! I've tried many others, like DENON S3500, 5000, Numark, American Audio, and none has the feel an functionality of this one except for the CDJ-1000. Pioneer is top notch and for real reasons, the industry standard.

CDJ!, December 27, 2011
This review is from: Pioneer CDJ-800 Table Top CD Player (Electronics)
I used the CDJ800 (mk1) for many years. After trying out many different manufacturers' DJ CD players (including Pioneer's other higher and lower models), I have come to the conclusion that the original CDJ800 is the top performer in this field. A play button and a scratch wheel are all I look for in a deck, but this thing adds craftsmanship, reliability, and amazing sound quality. I am not a fan of bells, whistles, shiny objects, loud noises, etc. I just like a solid deck that lets me play and scratch, while standing up to years of normal use, and the CDJ800 was it. I have since switched to the Numark NDX400, which has all the features I need (play button + scratch wheel), and so far it is serving my needs, but I miss the larger wheel (not a huge issue) and the impeccable sound quality [the Numark has a very slight digital artifact when scratching (not that noticeable, but not a deal breaker)]. The CDJ800 is incredibly responsive, while the Numark takes a few tries to get a loop to come out right. The Pioneer CDJ800 started to slightly malfunction after about 7 years of moderate use, and (considering the price difference), I hope the Numark NDX400 lasts [at least] almost as long.
