Product Description

Pioneer brand ductless mini split air conditioning systems are well known all over the world for their quality and performance. Although, a little known in North America, ductless mini splits have been the system of choice in most countries and regions all over the world, due to their simplicity, versatility and cost effectiveness. Installation of a Pioneer mini split system is a breeze. With a Pioneer ductless mini split or multi split type air conditioning system, it is possible to heat or cool each room in a house, totally independent of the other, quietly, effectively and efficiently. Pioneer brand WYD series ductless split heat pump systems come in 4 different capacities; 9000, 12000, 18000 and 24000 BTU/Hour. WYD is the most economical model in the Pioneer model line up. Included wireless remote controller allowing the users easily select among the 4 operating modes; Cooling, Heating, Dehumidification and Ventilation. Additionally an automatic switchover mode is available for totally automatic operation through its on board computer. A timer function allows the user to set the system to start or stop running at a certain time. Night mode function automatically adops the temperature settings to the human body's naturally changing temperature levels during the night. Auto restart function memorizes all settings in case of a temporary power failure and restarts the system to continue running the same way after the power is reconnected. Last but not the least, an automatic swing discharge air louver gently changes the direction of the air flow in a sweeping action for total comfort. With the ever increasing popularity of ductless mini split systems, there are many unknown brands trying to penetrate the market. Buyers interested in a ductless split heat pump are encouraged to consider buying a reputable brand, such as Pioneer, to be assured of their top quality and performance.

I am a licensed HVAC/R tech and ordered this for myself, for my garage at home. Shipping was fast and damage free. It does come with a wall mount bracket, line set, rubber feet for mounting, anchors, all electrical, basically everything you need. The insulation on the line set is an absolute joke and was completely inadequate in my professional opinion. I ran mine inside of a wall, and needed to use the real stuff, not water line open cell foam, which is what the manufacturer provides. Also, my biggest frustration, was the fact that the copper provided is not actual 1/4" and 1/2" ACR, but some weird ass foreign Chinese size. This makes adding copper, extending the line set really difficult and aggravating. Honestly, either use your own copper or make sure the 12' set is enough for your installation needs. It is inferior Chinese quality crap, but it comes with the system, and most systems don't come with anything, so it's better than nothing.

The system, however, is just as good as the original Japanese systems from a few years back that this mimics. Fit and finish is good, and the quality is good. It was packaged well, with pretty good instructions. The 3 year warranty is actually substandard for the industry, the compressor should have a 5 year.

The LED display on the indoor evap coil isn't very bright and is hard to see. The fan is not quiet or silent by any means, so if you are looking for low indoor noise, opt for the INVERTER equipped system. It's worth what pioneer wants for it. I knew it would be louder, and it was for my garage, so I did not opt for it. It will make the outdoor unit quieter as well. What the inverter does is make the compressor, condenser fan motor, and indoor evap motor variable speed, which results in a much quieter setup.

MY HOUSE IS less than 2000 sq ft. 4 yrs ago my central A/C WENT OUT 3 MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY. So could not afford to buy new one at 5 grand, thought I'd be smart & install window units & close of rooms not in use. Last summer lived in one room, still having electric bill in the hundreds, I said to myself can't do this another yr. WELL this unit has changed & saved my life, who would have thought 1.5 ton unit would cool my whole house down so much! It was painless install too, the hardest part to INSTALL IS ELECTRIC had to run 230/240 over put in A/C fuse box close to the outside unit, then uncoiling the copper tubing one small one larger, is the most difficult thing, as it is aways the opposite(to uncoil) of what one wants to do as far as uncoiling the copper tubing, so pay attention to that otherwise its all very easy!
HOW DOES IT WORK? Its AWESOME, can cool my whole house down. ( I collect the water to water my orchids) Get 5-7 gallons a day of fresh water, that really blows me away. My electric bill has gone down alot, last month paid $120. where as last yr it was $300 for 1 room. Another great feature on the unit is the little air deflector, it moves up & down causing the breeze to change helping to disperse the coolness, this unit is so nice I had to have an AIR CONDITIONER party for it, everyone was amazed. My friends are jealous & one was angry that I did not tell him sooner, hell I didn't know 'she' (call everything good a 'she')was going to be so great, its my second love especially after working outside in the heat all day & come home to a dry cool house, wow! For under a grand after spend a small fortune on window units, this unit is very inexpensive, I say its the best deal in here! Don't hesitate just buy it you will be amazed like I was. You do need a vacuum dryer to help suck the lines dry, otherwise you don't need an installer. You can get most airconditioner guys to do this for $50 to 100 bucks well worth it, your unit will last longer & run great.

Great unit for the price. Ice cold, easy install, and great price. Only thing I don't like is the inside fan constantly runs even when desired temp is met. Would be five stars if there was an energy saving mode that would turn it off and on. But for the price it can't be beat

Updated: be very careful of the factory installed copper line on the back of the indoor unit. Mine had some leakage problems because when connecting if you don't get it just perfect either you'll not tighten it enough or over tighten it and it will break where the brazing was done. It made a mess of my wall because the brazing came apart.

It's 105 out now just got this unit installed before the heat wave hit in my one room apartment. HVAC guy took about 6 hrs to install and it works great. Cost me a total of $1,500 compared to a quote of $4,000 from the local H/C Shop. It is a little more than "whisper quiet" but who cares I am very happy. Will report back on energy usage.

Very good HVAC unit, cools my 885 sq ft shop to 78f with outside temps of 95f/72dewpoint. Sheds a significant amount of condensation; very effective dehumidifier. Low current draw compared to similar-sized window shaker from Sears. Overall, a solid value.

UPDATE: Tested today for heat pump function. Outside air temp 39f, shop temp 50f. Turned unit on with remote, set to "auto" and "heat", temp 65f. Unit starts, with an initial "warm-up" function for the coils, then the air handler clicks on. The shop was warmed to 65f in about 30 minutes. Of note, the system cycles off and on - both condenser unit and air handler. It varies air handler speed automatically, just as described. It actually heats pretty well, although it's efficiency at 32f and lower will be diminished due to inability to exchange heat at such low temps. I will run it then anyway, just to observe how many times and how well it "thaws" itself when really cold outside. Satisfied.
