This radio is far away better than Sony ones because the USB port reads the whole 8gb music usb device. The sony ones only reads 3gb of music in the memory device no matter the size. This one is cheaper, for 67 was a real bargain.

For 65 bucks, this little guy does a lot. Very user friendly. It is a bargain for an entry level yet fully featured head unit. Has a set of pre-outs for a sub but if you're looking to run a 4 channel, I would suggest a unit with 3 pre-outs. All of the buttons feel nice and are very easy to read. Good stuff.

I am rebuilding my 86 K-30. I thought it will have so many different new looks it might as well have some killer tunes as well. This unit is an easy install and well built. I live in Alaska on an island so it has to be easy to use and tough. I do some mobile welding and mechanic work so music plays all day long sometimes and it hasn't skipped a beat. I am happy with this unit, it was mailed fast and wrapped securely and protected. Over all a good experience for me.

I just installed this yesterday and I just wanted to let people know that this works with the Iphone 5. I was worried that it wasn't going to be compatible but it works fine! It sounds great and so far I am happy with it!

I purchased this Pioneer stereo for my boat to replace an old AM-FM cassette deck stereo. The stereo looked nice in the store, and installation was more or less the same as any other car stereo I've worked with. The unit sounds OK, but the controls that allow selection of various features are maddeningly non-intuitive. The several buttons and and the large selector knob on the left side of the faceplate each have several functions depending upon the sequence in which they are pressed, and it's generally impossible to know which mode the button is in, so trying to make even simple changes (L-R balance, for example) requires lengthy trial and error. To make matters worse, many of the buttons carry labels that really don't help explain their function; one of the main buttons (that is supposed to turn the unit on and off, but often doesn't...) is labelled SRC. I can't count the number of times I've had to pull out the incomprehensible manual and sift through its microscopic print to find out what the buttons do.

The stereo seems to often spontaneously enter "demo mode" where it cycles through a battery-draining demonstration of its features using the LCD display. It's very eye-catching in the store, but very difficult to turn off to access features or the setup menu. I've had to disconnect the battery several times to get to the setup menu to turn of the demo mode. The stereo also comes with a remote control. Mine ceased working about six months after I installed the unit. Even new batteries haven't brought it back to life.

This Pioneer stereo - and the more expensive, higher-end Pioneer models to which it is similar - is an example of terrible design; my smartphone is a hundred times more sophisticated in what it can do, but still much easier to use.

For the price, this unit has surpassed my expectations. Installation in my Toyota Camry XLE was a bit trickier than expected as I had to bypass the car's external amplifier. I'm so glad I did though as the sound quality is now far improved, to the point where I can actually enjoy listening to music in the car. The EQ settings are good and varied, with the additional ability to adjust lows, mids and highs to get the sound as you want it. The tuner picks up a clear signal, CD player is fine, but the USB input is where this unit really shines. After loading up 1200+ songs onto a flash drive, I can sit and have it seamlessly play my favourites on random select all day long. I put them all in one folder, but multiple folders are supported. It's also good that it can display the file names, track numbers or the ID3 info. I particularly like how it carries on where you left off in a song even after turning off the engine or unplugging the drive.

Minor gripes are a slightly unusual button function placement. Eg. Why is pause on the number 4 preset button? Why is the on-off button a secondary function (you have to hold down the 'source' button), and there is no mute function? Main knob is a bit too short. Display is perpetually in motion while playing, although quite tolerable.

Final note for people who want to plug their phones in for USB access to songs on the phone: This unit will only read the first disk it sees, which is likely to be the phone's internal memory, thus preventing access to anything stored on the phone's secondary SD card. Also, you must disable MTP on the phone (enable USB mass storage), or else the unit will not read the phone at all and just displays 'N/A USB'.

I can easily recommend the Pioneer as a decent upgrade for an ageing car stereo. Good quality, good sound and excellent value for money.

I love pioneer, ive downsized from my double din pioneer just because a flashy 2 din radio is candy for a criminal. Well i new i still wanted pioneer and i wouldnt settle for less. This stereo was a good price and had basically all the options my 2 did had besides the obvious 7 inch touch screen and dvd option. I love this because i am not to worried if it gets stolen because it didnt cost alot. Great buy great qualty.
