Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

For its modest cost and ultraslim size, the DV-354 delivers big-time performance and terrific media versatility. It plays DVD, DVD-R/DVD-RW (DVD-Video format), CD, CD-R/CD-RW, and video CD, is MP3-compatible, and even has a FujiColor CD and KODAK Picture CD compatible JPEG photo viewer. For great video quality, it features a 10-bit/27 MHz video digital-to-analog converter and a pristine component-video output. And for high-octane audio, it offers Dolby Digital and DTS surround outputs (for use with a surround-decoding audio-video receiver) and a 192 kHz/24-bit audio digital-to-analog converter for superb two-channel playback from the unit's analog outputs. Advanced controls include still play, still-step play, and slow-motion playback (with some exceptions on video CDs). An advanced GUI (graphic user interface) with setup navigator simplifies setup.

Other features include picture zoom, Virtual Dolby Digital with SRS TruSurround (for simulating surround sound through any stereo speakers), random play (DVD, Video CD, CD, MP3), program play (CD track, video chapter, title), program memory (DVD chapter/title), resume function (DVD, video CD), screen saver, auto power off, and a remote control. Pioneer's warranty covers parts for one year and labor for 90 days, with three years of firmware upgrades for compatibility with future DVD authoring technology.

1.0 out of 5 stars It sucks, December 25, 2004
This review is from: Pioneer DV-354 DVD Player (Electronics)
I had this player for 3-4 mos. when it just started acting funny. That is resetting, turning off and finally the fuse blew. I was going to bring it to a shop, but I just ending up throwing it in the trash. I think Pioneer should compensate anyone who bought this dvd player. Since it seems, I'm not the only one that had problems with this dvd player

I have one too, with the same problem...
It resets randomly, but not often. About 1 time in 3 DVDs played.
If somebody can help, please do.

2.0 out of 5 stars Would be a good player except..., April 28, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Pioneer DV-354 DVD Player (Electronics)
After about 1.5 hours of playback, the player will suddenly reset. It will then give you 30 minutes or so more, but will eventually reset again. We took it back and exchanged it for another unit (same model), and the new one has the same problem. We thought maybe it was heat related, but we've now got the player set up in a very open space so that heat really shouldn't be an issue, and the problem still occurs.

I've looked around to see if anyone else has had this issue, but there are very few reviews out there for this model. Has anyone else seen this problem? And if so, does anyone know if Pioneer has put out a fix for it?

Other than the reset issue, this is a perfectly decent player. Picture and sound is good, the remote is easy to use, and the GUI is pretty good.
