Product Description

The Pioneer DVRRT500 DVD VHS Player Video Recorder Combo provides 2-way recording of VHS to DVD or DVD to VHS. Enjoy all the DVD playback diversity you'd expect from a stand-alone DVD player with PureCinema Progressive Scan, digital audio output, WMA (Windows Media Audio) and MP3 playback. The built in 4 Head Hi-Fi VCR handles your tape collection with hi-quality video and stereo audio. Everything is at your fingertips with a easy to use unified remote control for both DVD and VCR decks. Pioneer s DVR-RT500 is a full-featured combination player/recorder that offers one-button transfer from VHS to DVD. More importantly, once those old VHS tapes are converted to DVD, the DVR-RT500 will record new programming directly to DVD-R or DVD-RW discs. It offers a DVD-R/RW burner as well as a four-head hi-fi VCR for playback and recording of VHS tapes so consumers can still watch their favorite movies that have not yet been released on DVD. Many consumers are still looking for an easy way to transfer their old VHS tapes to DVD, and Pioneer is delivering a solution with the DVR-RT500, a combination VCR with DVD recorder. With the proliferation of DVD players, most people recognize the advantages of DVD in picture quality, ease-of-use and longevity. They just don t realize how easy it can be to convert their archives of VHS to DVD.

5.0 out of 5 stars WORKS EXCELLENT, April 26, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Pioneer DVR-RT500S VCR/DVD Recorder (Electronics)
After reading reviews on every brand sold at Amazon I picked Pioneer since it was about the only brand that didn't have any complaints. I have only had it for a few days but the unit does exactly what is supposed to and does it excellent. It uses DVD- disks only but since I never have used DVD+ disks that option is irrevelent to me.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great -- for a little while, February 22, 2008

When I bought this unit it worked fine, although it is a little slow to respond to commands. However, after a few months, it stopped reading DVDs. It gives me an "incorrect disc error," no matter what DVD I put in. I e-mailed Pioneer about the problem and got the response to unplug it for a few hours. That trick worked once. Then Pioneer said it must need repair. I had bought the Pioneer brand for its quality reputation, and was sorely disappointed to get only a few months' use out of the machine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pioneer Rocks!, December 31, 2006
This review is from: Pioneer DVR-RT500S VCR/DVD Recorder (Electronics)
After searching for several days for the BEST DVD/VCR recorder, the only one that stood out was the Pioneer DVR-RT500. Unfortunately they don't make it anymore so I had to go find one somewhere out there in internetland. Lo & behold I found a brand new in-the-box one on eBay and made the highest bid. I've only had it a few days now, but it works like a charm! Very good playback of old VCR's that I'm now transferring to DVD. I've owned other Pioneer equipment in the past, and I must say, they rank right up there at the top in my opinion. Very satisfied!
