If you want to run your iphone through the receiver, or if you want internet radio, get this. The iphone direct connection setup with the Pioneer receivers is not well-implemented, and the internet radio is just not good.

My Setup: Iphone and Pioneer VSX-1120-K

Initial setup: What is never made real clear is that the initial pairing has to be through the receiver; once your device is paired, you can do it through the iphone.

Use: It will only pair with your iphone if the receiver is on and switched to the adapter port.

Range: I am not having the problem reported by others. I've had it for a month, my iphone is 15 feet way through all sorts of obstacles, and it works fine.

Why: Look, the internet radio on the Pioneer receivers just does not work well, and if you want to use Pandora or (my choice) Accuradio, forget it. Now, I can completely control my receiver from my iphone. I can stream all internet radio after I have turned on the receiver through the internet connection and receiver app. Also, you will find that though you can directly connect your iphone to the receiver, you have to control it through the TV; moreover, it's 2010, why would you?

One last tip: If you get the iphone app, make sure you set your receiver internet connection to standby, or you can not turn on the receiver from the iphone.

I wound up purchasing this adapter from Best Buy only because I had a gift card. Ive seen several reviews for this product on the Internet that complain it doesn't work and I thought mine didn't either but for those like me that are new to Blue Tooth technology, you have to "PAIR" the IPHONE to the adapter by plugging in the adapter and then enter the setup menu for your pioneer amp. Look in the setup menu then select "Other Setup" and then select "Pairing Blue-tooth Device" it will ask for you to enter a "Pass-code" which will later be referred to as your PIN number. Once the amp and phone has gone through the pairing set up you should be good to go. None of this info was in my amp or adapter users manual, The so called GEEK SQUAD didn't know how to set it up and suggested it was my IPHONE that was at issue. SHAME ON PIONEER for not providing instructions. Once it's set up it works great. It should however be a little cheaper. I would've given it 5 stars if the instructions were provided.

I completely agree with many people that this should be a standard built in module for the Pioneer systems but like many things in life, it isn't. I have been astonished at the range and quality of this adapter. It truly is as easy as plugging it into the back of your unit and hitting the "adapter" button on your remote to use it. I tie it right in with either my laptop or Iphone and it's truly flawless in sound quality.

I have a Pioneer VSX-1020 and have been wanting to give the bluetooth adapter a try since I got the receiver. The only thing that was holding me back was the $100 price tag and the varying reviews, but I finally decided to bite the bullet and give it a shot since the price came down to about $45 (after a gift card). Figured I didn't have much to lose because I could return it if I wasn't happy. Well, this thing works like a champ. The range is great. I have a 2-story home and can control/send music from the farthest room upstairs from my iPhone 3GS, iPad 2 and laptop. The music sounds good and doesn't drop out at all. Setup was snap. When I unpacked the adapter, I realized there were no instructions in the box, but I pulled out my handy 1020 manual and there it was on page 51 (I think) on how to set it up and use it. I had two iPhones, the iPad and my laptop up and running within 10 minutes. I set an activity on my Harmony remote for this and now even the wife can stream music frustration-free (for both of us).

All-in-all, best $45 I've spent in a while. I can't imagine using the iPod cable that came with the 1020 now that I have this. It's so much more convenient and I think it sounds better too. I even found that I can stream Pandora too (wasn't expecting that for some reason), which came in very handy during this past weekend's bbq/party we threw. As always, shipping was prompt and packaged nicely by Amazon.

I usually use the reviews on amazon to decide my final purchase, but this product only had one. I took the risk of purchasing this product and I can say I am verry happy with my purchase. I am using this product to connect to my receiver with my netbook and play audio on my deck area. Only plays audio no video but I have no problem with that. Range is vey descent, I have moved around with my netbook to ranges of 10 ft and no problem. I recommend this product but just make sure it's right for what you want.

My son just loves this Bluetooth adapter. It works great with his stereo receiver and does everything it is suppose to do.

Received this from Amazon at half the price of retail, which is what you have to look for in this economic environment. The unit is much smaller than I had envisioned. Plugged it in to the port on the rear of my new Pioneer VSX-1020 Receiver, followed directions to enable it, and bingo, my iPhone and iPad found it and played music flawlessly. I did have to go into Settings on the Apple devices to pair them to the adapter.

The Cons of this unit are twofold. First, the port to plug the unit into should be recessed so as to help protect the adapter from getting bumped/broken. Pioneer is aware of how fragile this is as documentation points out that you have to be careful not to bump it after installation.
Second, I have to go into Settings on the Apple devices to reestablish connection each time I want to listen to music. Don't know if it is the fault of Apple or Pioneer, but I do know that when I get in my Acura MDX the bluetooth phone 'just works'. I know it is just a couple of extra clicks, but every click counts. 'Just maybe' I'm reading to much into the lack of automatically locking onto the adapter as I do have 5 other bluetooth devices listed on my phone. Listed devices include my Garmin GPS, car, motorhome stereo, MacBook Pro and now the Pioneer so maybe I am 'supposed' to tell it which one to connect to.

Bottom line. I love the functionality of no wires. This device works as advertised and is recommended.

After plugging this into your receiver, be extremely careful about bumping it. I hit mine with my hand and broke the connector off of it. This is a silly connection and it needs to be either integrated into the receiver or made more robust.

Not thrilled to spend another $100. Bummer.

Bought this so I can connect my laptop to my speakers wirelessly. It works perfectly. Easy to use once you figure everything out. Easy to turn on and off. No complaints about the sound. I noticed I could also control Windows Media Player using my receivers remote control, I didn't know that could be done but it's awesome. You can fast forward, rewind, skip, pause and play and I don't think it's limited to Windows Media Player either. I think it's worth the cost.

I don't know why other people hate on this, but this has an awesome range! and a sound quality! , my receiver is downstairs and i can change music from upstairs, and don't get me wrong the distance is probably more than 20 feet, sound quality is pretty good too. and if you spend 2 minutes you will figure out how to set this up, you don't need no instructions at all
