Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Stop wasting valuable time while you're stuck in traffic and get the Pioneer GEX-P10XMT XM NavTraffic Digital Satellite Tuner. This tuner allows compatible Pioneer navigation systems to receive detailed traffic information as well as XM satellite radio programs.

The GEX-P10XMT is compatible with the Pioneer AVIC-N2 and AVIC-D1 navigation systems, as well as the AVIC-N1 (upgrade software is required for the AVIC-N1).

XM NavTraffic powered by NavTeq Traffic allows Pioneer navigation systems to serve as a powerful tool that informs the driver of traffic conditions. The traffic information, which is provided through a satellite broadcast of XM NavTraffic, is aggregated by NavTeq Traffic from multiple sources -- including leading commercial traffic data providers, government departments of transportation, police and emergency services, road sensors, cameras and airborne reports.

To access the XM satellite radio stations and make use of this great product, you'll need a subscription to XM satellite radio. For more information about XM Radio digital-quality sound, coast-to-coast coverage, and more than 150 channels of satellite radio entertainment, visit XMradio.com.

About XM NavTraffic
If there is a traffic jam or slowdown on the route to your destination, the navigation system will alert you of the situation and can suggest an alternate route found by the unit. This powerful feature can save you valuable time every time you're on the road.

Where information is available, traffic flow is overlaid as a blinking line on the navigation map to let the driver know how fast traffic is flowing. Color coding is used for easy visual identification -- red for slow or standstill, yellow for stop-and-go or medium traffic, and green for freely flowing traffic. A circle icon on the line indicates the average speed of the area. With all this information, you'll be able to access traffic flow with a quick glance.

Traffic incidents, such as accidents or lane closures, are represented as intuitive icons on the navigation map. In addition, affected road sections are indicated (similar to the traffic flow information explained above) to display the severity and length of the incident. Detailed information about each traffic incident is available by selecting the specific incident icon, or by viewing the traffic incidents list from the Info Menu.

In addition to your help with traffic, this digital satellite tuner brings you all the benefits of XM radio. You'll receive over 150 digital channels coast-to-coast that deliver over 80,000 hours of satellite radio entertainment each month. Plus, all the channels are commercial free. With broadcasts that cover every major music genre, sports, talk shows, weather, news, and more, you'll never tire of listening to your XM radio.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Stuff!, November 6, 2007
This review is from: Pioneer Navtraffic Tuner (Electronics)
I purchased this unit with my Pioneer AVIC-N4 and it seems to do the job pretty well. The flashing red/yellow/green lines on congested roadways is very helpful. The first time I used it, I was driving and noticed that the route I was going to take (across the East River) was blinking red. I looked across the river and saw a severe traffic jam.

Coming home from that same trip, it alerted me that traffic was slow ahead and asked to reroute. I said yes, and it diverted me onto a highway I didn't even know existed and cut my travel time down an hour or so.

The only think I don't like about it that it's an extra charge with XM and some of the information is dated (ie. road closures that I knew were no longer closed, but listed on the screen).

Overall, if you own a pioneer navigation system - you might as well get it. It's worth it.

I have this unit, with a Pioneer AVIC-D2 headunit. I use it for both XM and NavTraffic. I have to admit that NavTraffic's incident report isn't always very up to date, and I really wish they would write WHEN the event occured. Now it just says "Accident, next quarter hour" but come back in 30 minutes and you still have the exact same message up on the screen. However, it is much better with the highway information. And also if highway traffic is slow, and you have a router programmed, the unit will ask if you wish to go around the traffic jam. Sometimes the alternative is worse, because the unit doesn't know "speeds" off the highway, so if you choose to avoid, you may get in a worse traffic jam.

As far as the XM, reception is good, some channels at times sound like a 56kbps mp3, but most of the time it's good. Also, it sometimes doesn't get artist and song title information. I'm not sure if this is the unit's fault or xm's.

I would definitly buy this unit again, especially with NavTraffic.
