Now what do i say about this amp. I really like it... and enjoy the mid peaks it delivers. For the bass.. it needs an EQ with bass boost to get it to where you want. Easy and straight forward installation.
You will definitely like it to drive your mids and mid-bass.

Like the other guys said - it is big, it is heavy. Big and heavy suggests big heatsink, which you want. I haven't opened it up to see how well built it is inside, but the bottom cover is made of that cheap, thin, plated steel that they make generic PC cases out of. In contrast, my 350W Rockford Fosgate sub amp is all cast aluminum and chrome-plated, thick steel. The Pioneer runs a bit hotter than the Rockford amp and the screw terminals are much cheaper than the enclosed terminals of the Rockford, but you gets what you pay for.

I have this amp mounted vertically on stand-offs on the side of my trunk space, with a 120mm PC fan blowing across it. Only gets warm then, even when you start off with the trunk interior at 100°F.

I'm playing a 4-year old Pioneer head unit via the RCA jacks into this amp which drives a pair of [...] 6x8 Pioneer 3-way front speakers and some [...] 6x8 Infinity 2-way speakers in the rear. Sounds nice and clear - no noticeable distortion at a fairly high volume level (that I can't stand to listen to for more than a few minutes at a time). With only the head unit (rated at 4x50W, which is supposedly 4x25W RMS) powering the same speakers, I had to use its built-in HPF to take away the bass below 50Hz, else it would be distortion-a-plenty. Now with this amp hooked up, I can feel the front doors vibrating again and no distortion!

Do yourself a favor - ignore the fairy-tale power rating on your head unit and use a separate 4-channel amp for your main speakers. It just sounds so much clearer and you can enjoy the full amount of bass that your speakers can produce. You don't have to listen at a very loud volume to hear the difference. This is the first time I've bothered getting an amp for the main speakers in a car (and I've been driving since 1988). I've upgraded head units and added small subs, but this has made the most overall difference in sound quality. Next time I change cars, a 4-channel amp is the first thing I'm going to install. Wish I'd figured this out years ago!

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't be beat for the price!, February 18, 2009
This review is from: Pioneer GM-6400F 600-Watt, 4-Channel Power Amplifier (Electronics)
I installed this amp in my F-150 two weeks ago and wanted to test it out a bit before submitting my review and so far, I couldn't be happier. My mids and highs are extremely clear now and I can actually hear small details in music that I couldn't hear before with just my pioneer head unit powering my speakers. I'm using this amp together with a GM-5400t bridged powering a 10" Kicker CVT and the systems sounds extremely clear even at high volumes with no distortion.

Being a relatively cheap amp, I wasn't expecting much out of it but I'm truly impressed by it's output and clarity. I also read that the previous version of this amp the GM-6300f had some overheating issues but I think they have been resolved with this model. I have two amps mounted behind my rear seat with barely any ventilation and neither of them have turned off once. I'm sure that there are better amps out there but in this price range, I can't imagine one being better.

I love this amplifier. I have it powering 4 Kicker 6.5" speakers at 4 ohms and it has been performing admirably. I have it mounted in a fairly spacious trunk, but it appears to give off very little heat even when running for extended periods of time so I'd imagine it would function just as well under a car's seat. That being said, it is quite a large amp...bigger than the pictures would lead you to believe. Controls are simple and well marked, and the high pass filter works extremely well. Highly recommended as a platform for car surround speakers.

4.0 out of 5 stars So far so good!, April 3, 2009
This review is from: Pioneer GM-6400F 600-Watt, 4-Channel Power Amplifier (Electronics)
Been in my car for a month or so now and sounds great. I have it hooked up to my 4 factory incar speakers (98 Eclipse Infinity speakers) and they sound crystal clear and very loud. All my settings are set to default out of the box on the amp and the stereo is set for max highs and slightly below higest setting for mids. I dont need to go higher on any of the gain values default is great on the amp. Although Im not using this amp for any bass it sounds great if I do turn the bass level above 0 on my stereo. (I have a seperate amp for bass on a sub)

One thing I didnt like is the way the speaker out part is. They are ontop of each other but the rears extrude out further as if they where steps. It sticks out quite a bit and for some reason left and right are backwards so its right speaker and then left?
Besides that its a great amp, looks nice to with the black and the red on the sides.

Great value.
I had this installed to boost the power to my new Polk Audio front and rear speakers. As far as I can tell it's working according to spec. No problems here.
FYI.. It is a little larger than average.

I installed this amp in a 2002 Mustang Gt Convertible. The installation was a bit troublesome the car simply does not have a lot of options for an amp this big. Once in and paired with a Pioneer FH-P8000BT head unit, Pioneer HD Tuner, Pioneer Premier TS-A643P and TS-A532P Premier series speakers this unit rocks. The volume it gave the speakers is amazing. Lows are deep and pounding, highs are crystal clear. Before installing the amp the head distorted the speakers at high volumes. Multiple options for wiring (I do recommend patch cables for the speakers) Separate gain adjustments, super big ground and power lugs, and a heavy backbone make this amp one to buy. If you are looking for a good amp at a good price this is the one for you.

This amp has done everything I wanted, at a great price. The only thing I would have liked would be for the case to be a bit smaller. Sound is great, plenty of options on hooking the unit up, and it works flawlessly. I would recommend it to anyone who has the room for it!
