All 5-star reviews too. Same story (Four 5-star Vine reviews) for the more expensive SC-1323-K. Strange for products that have supposedly been available here for more than six months. There are 18 non-Vine review for the VSX-1123, some are not glowing. A competing website (Newegg) has two reviews for the SC-1223-K, both largely negative.
It does get rather warm. I have a box fan behind my entertainment center blowing air on this, my PS3 and especially my X-box 360. I would not recommend having it in an enclosed space, and if you do, make sure to purchase the extended warranty.
The Tools Menu button will become active when you are controlling another hardware component with the Pioneer's remote controller. You would have to assign one of the component buttons near top of remote first to control a different piece of hardware--such as BD, DVD, CBL/SAT -refer to manual for setting up control of other components using preset code #'s. After doing so, when you press the butoon--BD, DVD, or others--the Tools Menu button will become active and used to display guides etc. The manual shows what the Toools Menu button will display depending on which component is being controlled--press BD, DVD etc first--likewise once you press the BD, DVD etc--the Blue Source at top right of Pioneer remote will turn on/off the particular component.
