This review is from: Pioneer SC07 RECEIVER (Electronics)
I recently purchased the Pioneer Elite SC-07 receiver. It replaced my old Elite VSX-72TXV receiver. Along with the receiver, I purchased the Polk RTi A7 front speakers, CSi A6 center channel, FXi A4 surrounds and DSW Pro 500 subwoofer. I have the Kuro Elite PRO-111FD display to compliment the set up. The result is just breath taking sight and sound.
When you first turn on the receiver without any calibration, you can hear and feel the raw power. After the full automated calibration and some manual minor fine tunings, I couldn't be happier. The first thing you'll notice is the clean, powerful yet natural sound output the receiver has to offer. If you're not into manual calibration, let the receiver do the full auto calibration. That'll make a world of difference. All of the video components are connected via HDMI, so I can't really comment on the performance of the Faroudja upconverting chipset. Just like the former Elite receivers, SC-07 comes with ipod connection (a USB port instead of a cable this time around). The GUI is much easier to use compared to Denon receivers. I like the fact that the menus are straight forward enough to navigate through the settings easily without referring to the manual every single time. Initially, I was going to wait for SC-27 to come out. Then again, the major difference between the two are color GUI with the ability to show the album art work on the ipod and a different upconverting chip. Personally, I don't care about the extra bells and whistles. Amazon (3rd party retailers) probably have the best pricing I've seen so far. I have no regrets and I'm looking forward to enjoying it for quite some time.

Nothing much to say but....,
This review is from: Pioneer SC07 RECEIVER (Electronics)
I've owned this bad-boy for almost a year now; I've been waiting until I was completely confident in my opinion before posting a review.
The features and sound quality of this receiver are nothing shy of amazing. My wife and I use the "home media gallery" feature on a weekly basis to listen to neural THX 80's music while we're cleaning the house. I just recently upgraded my speaker system to 7.1 from 5.1 and I'm absolutely amazed. (I was using the same old speakers I was using with my old 5.1 Onkyo receiver, and the improvment in clarity & detail was astonishing.... moving to a 7.1 setup is just as impressive.) I have no idea how to explain how I feel every time I pop in a BluRay, Xbox 360 game, or watch a HD movie on cable.... After nearly a year, I still cannot belive I own this masterpiece. I still thank the ultimate sales guy in Colorado on a regular basis for convincing me to NOT settle for anything less. [ Mike, you're the man! ] (Almost as awesome as the folks at Pioneer for creating such a fine piece of A/V equipment.)

Breathtaking audio Pioneer SC-07,

This reciever is not for the timid, or tech-impaired. With any decent speakers,(I'm using Polk towers and Bose surround) this unit will make any room acoustically beautiful. The Sc-07 has a self-calibrating set up with speaker phase control that brings any music to vivid reality. With all the bells and whistles you can imagine, Media sharing with LAN networking and internet connectivity, plus IPOD control; there is no need to look further. PLEASE forego the big-box stores and spend a little extra! THe raw power and awesome sound I still cannot get over. You need to experience sound processing like this once in you life. I am unable to find a distortion point on this amplifier, and things have fallen off my walls. Whew!

After several months of searching I selected the Pioneer SC 07 over the Denon lineup (3808, 3810, 4310 etc). Also looked at Yamaha, Onyko, Marantz and Sony. The setup was quick, easy and accurate. The audio is outstanding for both movies and music. The sub woofer interface is smooth and overall sound is impressive at all volume levels. Movie dialogue is outstanding for clarity. The unit runs without building up heat. Initial setup is easy and provides excellent results. Going through the manual (very complete with good detail) allows you customize features with a large number of options that will result in sound reproduction that far surpasses most movie theaters. Once connected to the internet (I use a Belkin powerline router) the selection of internet stations and music quality is excellent. There has been criticism that a wireless connection was not built in but the reliability of the wired connection is more stable with no interference. Strongly recommend the SC 05/07 or SC 25/27 products - they deliver outstanding results at a moderate price.

Because of a massive parts failure of my two month old AdCom, which cost thousands more, I purchased Pioneer Elite as I am familiar with their reputation. I have been into high end audio and video for a long time. I was blown away by the quality of the Pioneer SC-07. The upscaling is phenomenal, better than units costing thousands more. In fact it is so good in upscaling I don't buy Blu-ray discs and seldom use my extremely good Oppo Blu-ray player. The Advanced MCACC, Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration System, is a rapid fire way to properly set up any speaker configuration while making allowances for speaker and room acoustics. While one receiver may be good at video and another at audio, the Pioneer SC-07 beats them all at what they think they do best. It is truly a benchmark receiver.
The seller was other than Amazon but proved to be worthy of operating under their cloak. They actually got the receiver to me early and packaged properly for handling by untrained gorillas.

This is my third piece of Pioneer Elite equipment - ties together my Kuro Plasma and Elite Blu-Ray player. Adding a complete 7.1 system with floor Klips and ceiling/sub MartinLogins put this receive to the test. What a great sound field, with virtually unlimited choices of effects. The built in setup program was easy to follow and resulted in startling room acoustics with all speaker adjustments preformed by the SC-07, including sequencing, distance from the target position, equalizing and volume variables. Once these were locked into the receiver the fun began, start playing with the output effects until you find ones perfect for tv, DVD, BD, sports, music, etc. Couldn't be more pleased and after several months it only seems to get better.

Always loved pioneer receivers...and the SC-07 has not let me down. Looked at various brands and came back to the SC-07 over and over again.
All the features you would expect, great power, looks great, sounds absolutely beautiful!!!!! Would have bought it at $2k but when it was priced at slightly over over $1,200 I could not resist purchasing yet another receiver. Wondering if there is a better price vs. feature receiver out there!!!!

Lots of power but not audiophile quality, like many pioneer products,

This review is from: Pioneer SC07 RECEIVER (Electronics)
Just wanted to let you know that this receiver got all the power to drive any speaker you might have, without breaking a sweat, BUT it's not the kind of sound you want for stereo listening for many speakers out there.
If you really wants it, match this receiver carefully, with rich and warm sounding speakers because you might regret it and think you're missing something in the sound of this receiver. Those high quality speakers will make the sound nice, and it will not be the pioneer fault. The problem is this is not an audiophile receiver like MARANTZ, older HK, DENON or Even YAMAHA in the same or lower prices ranges. The pioneer listening in stereo is thin, dry sounding and not musical at all. I'll take all the other mentionned above receiver instead. In movies it's precise with action and sound placement, very good . It's DSP are high quality and enhance the sound and also soften the sound a bit, wich is good because this receiver is somewhat bright. There's also too much ECHO added to the DSP processing, and it's not natural. But the sound is Still better with surround features ON than in stereo modes. The MCACC calibration is fast and the receiver also has several EQ and phase control options, BUT still it really play better in stereo or pure direct mode without this usually. For movies, it'S ok, but let the EQ off and use the phase control only. I think this receiver has been made by people who had ear loss. I've compared this receiver sound to the KLIPSCH company that makes speakers that are way too bright and you must use a very high quality amp with warm sound to make them play just OK...so just please don't combine the 2 together. Maybe pionner make something that sound better, but you'll need to pay more than this. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND NOT TO BUY THIS, Look at the DENON avr-3310 or avr- 4310 instead, YAMAHA RXV-1900 ( a real JEWEL), Yamaha Z7( $$ better than the 1900), Marantz SR 7002 or 8002 ( $$torroidal transformer) and YOU WONT BE disappointed because those receivers just sound RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX without EQ. If you got more money, you should also consider ROTEL or ARCAM gear because they are very nice in stereo listening, just above the MArantz or DENON.
