I Love These Headphones!,
This review is from: Pioneer SE-DJ5000 Dj Headphones (Electronics)
These are my second pair of these headphones. My first pair lasted me 10 years through traveling in my record bag to many venues. I love these headphones even though they are an older model. Being a female DJ I find it hard to have headphones fit my head comfortably, except for these. Great sound. I have played many a great set with these, and for the price you can't get any better. I would definitely recommend Pioneer SE-DJ5000 to anyone who is seeking a lighter, smaller headphone with professional sound quality. As always Pioneer is a good choice for DJ equipment.

I've been a DJ since 2000, and these were my first pair of serious headphones. I've blasted countless hours of music through these and they've held up beautifully. The wiring is in tact, nothing has broken, they're still in great condition. When we throw parties, my friends ask to borrow my headphones for their sets. For 8 years I have had no complaints. The only reason I looked these up again is because I'm going to buy a pair for my friend for Christmas. All around excellent product.

Pioneer SE-DJ5000 Headphones,

In 2001 l got these headphones when l bought a DJM 500 mixer and two CDJ 1000 plyrs.
Since then the cable has had problems and l fixed the cable problem fitting a metal circlip on the cable holder within the speaker cup. I have played 20 to 40 gigs a year since 2001 and these headphones still go fine. A few times over the years when changing sets the next dj on has used the SE-DJ 5000 phones to cue up the next tune and commented on their quality. The noise cancellation when cueing is superior to some phones l have tried. l have usually folded them and packed them in to the pioneer roadcase and had no problems with damage to the swivels or cups. If you can afford quality, treat the phones reasonably, these phones should last. l only own one set of headphones, these pioneers - l am considering get a Technics pair as a spare. Hope this helps.

I bought these for the fact that ear cups do not swivel. I've owned 2 pair of Technics 1200 Headphones. While they sound great, the swivel always breaks. 3 Pairs of Sony MDR-V700's (good sound too) the earpads always break down and leave me with black specs all over my face, body and shirt during a night of DJing (not presentable...looks like I have lepracy at the end of the night or a serious mole problem). Then of course they become uncomfortable. So, I thought I would try the Pioneer. I didn't want swivel ear cups so I went with these as opposed to the Pioneer HDJ100's. They were to have the sams specs; dynamic range and driver size...BUT in plain sight you can tell that the drivers in these are 40mm. I compared them to the afformentioned Sony & Technics and they are noticably smaller than their 50mm drivers. Therefore, the sound isn't as rich in comparison; and as one might think, the range in the low and mid do not articualate as well as the other headphones I mentioned. I would say that you could go with a $40 pair of Headphones for the same performance. I don't know why they advertise 50mm drivers both on the box and all other specs listed for these headphones.
I do not recommend them for casual listening...let alone professional DJ applications.

This is ridiculously incredible pair of headphones. The sound quality is beyond great and if your are looking for bass this is a great choice. They look really old fashioned and not the kind of headphones many people wear in public, but i could not care less about that and i'm positive you wont either. I can easily compare these the the Bose over the ear headphones in sound quality. These are not noise cancelling but once you have music playing all you hear is your tunes. Sure you can join the group of people who spend $150 on Beats by Dr.Dre or Bose, because its what everyone is getting. Or you can spend around half as much for a product just as good. Pioneer is known for their pristine sound quality in receivers, but i have no doubt that they will soon be known for their performance in Head Phones. If you are DJ i have no doubt that you will enjoy these as much as i have, but if your the average Joe looking to invest in a long lasting head set this is the choice for you.

Look & feel sturdy. Close out external noise good to hear tracks through headphones. Folded up nice for travel!! But not very comfortable & treble overshadows the bass.. My cheaper Sony's are much more comfortable & tones are more even & easier on the ears at loud volumes than this Pioneer. But we'll see how it does once I get use to it.

I got these headphones after previous ones busted while on a trip. My DJ cousin took me to a DJ store where I could actually find some good equipment. It's been more than two years since then, and they are still my "good" headphones. They have very good clarity and frequency response. I normally prefer "around the ear" headphones and can see how some would find this uncomfortable after a period of time, but I don't really notice it. I didn't think I'd like the mono feature as much as I have (I'm not a dj or music pro), and I use it when I want to listen to two things at once (imagine that). Overall I gave this a 5 star rather than a 4 star (for possible discomfort) because I have taken these headphones overseas, cross-country and through numerous mp3 players, and they are my standard for high-quality music.

This is the best sound I ever heard, perfect for DJ's,
mono stereo switch is useful, I wish the cord is unpluggable. after listening 3 hours of music, it is hurts my ears. I am thinking to return it or keep it, I haven't decide it yet because the sound is amazing, specially on high volumes.

I used these headphones 2 times out the box and the wire has already shorted out. A complete waste of money.

Just got the SE DJ5000 after a long wait. The left headphone was not working. The pair is faulty and I am very very very disappointed. I was not expecting this from Amazon since I have shopped many times before.
