These headphones are quite simply phenomenonal. Out of the box, the sound isn't that impressive, in fact, they sounded about the same as the pair of headphones that come with the Rosetta Stone software. (*UPDATE* before you state using these, let some music play at about 60% volume for 30-50 hrs, this will enable the headphones to break in and give you the best sound!)If you do some research, you will find that these are one of the best pairs of headphones that money can buy for this price range under $50.

Pros:
1. Very comfortable for long and short term usage.
2. Long cord great for roaming about without the headphone being jerked off your head.
3. Great sound, deep bass (though not as loud as some might want it to be, but it is warm and delightful), high treble, nice mid-range, and overall good clarity.
4. The cans (also known as the cups or phones) go completely around the ear and successfully block out background noise (not as much as dedicated Noise Cancelling headphones, but still do a nice job)
5. One cord on left side leads to less tangling and more overall comfort.
6. Auto adjusting headband, no clicky clicky nonsense.

Cons:
1. For a lot of people, the need to change the EQ may appear unappealing. I found the best EQ setting on iTunes is Electronic, though you can settle for what's best for you.
2. The 11.5' cord can be cumbersome to haul around and make sure you don't roll over in your wheeled chair. Though the headphones themselves have nice spots right above the cans to wrap the cord around for when not in use. when using however, you can just make a coil of wire with some twisty ties to manage the extra cable length.
3.

I have bought these headphones, and the first impresion is that they are so big, but after using it for quite long time (8 hours) continuously, while at work, they end up being extremely comfortable. Earpad covers perfectly all the ear, and passive isolation of external noise, while playing musing, is so good. You barely even notice you have them on, except in summer, when your ears get a bit warm.

Sound quality is extremely good, maybe a bit bass in overall, but nothing that a simple equalization cannot solve. Actually the bass response of these headphones exceeds that of some other much more expensive headphones. So, depending on what kind of music you like hearing, and what sounds you value the most, this headphones represent a very good choice, especially for the price of them.

The sound leackage is absolutely unbelieble. Almost no sound gets out of the headphones, even at high volumes (high enough to become uncomfortable).

Maybe the only drawback is the quality of the materials, all plastic, with not such a good appearance, but after some use, it just seems that they seem weak, and they are actually moderately robust.

I purchased as a replacement for an $80.00 set of Sennheiser headphones that were on the ear not over the ear, my error when I purchased, that were very Uncomfortable but had great sound with great bass.
These pioneer SE-M290 headphones -after break in- are equal in sound quality along with great bass but are 500 per cent more comfortable and a price that was and is unbelievable. I would recommend these to anyone who wants a comfortable set of headphones with great sound and bass. You will not be disappointed. With the Over The Ear design, I can now listen to music or play games for hours with no discomfort as the design is made to be snug and form fitting. The headgear has just the right amount of pressure to hold them in place and with the wide head piece that sets on your head along with light weight I got just what I was wanting in a set of headphones.
In fact it was the headgear that caught my attention when I was looking for a new set of headphones. All the other manufactures incorporate the tension and head plate in one piece and that becomes very uncomfortable after a short time. Pioneer did an excellent job in designing these headphones. Also, I would recommend never buy a set of headphones, no matter what brand, that set on the ear. Always buy a set of headphones that are over the ear.

I work in a very noisy office environment. Noise cancelling headphones have been a hassle with changing batteries all the time. These babies do the job just fine. But the most important thing to me is comfort. Comfort for my ears and comfort on my head. These headphones completely cover my ears and give them lots of room. This great bridge design also makes the headphones comfortably sit on your head all day. The sound is good to great; but not excellent. However, due to the comfort factor; I would have paid twice the asking price.

I purchased these for the "Pioneer" name and quality that I have come to expect from them, but these headphones fall a little short of expectations!! I expected Great lows and great highs!! What I got was good lows and mediocre highs!! I have comes to expect something from the Pioneer name that just wasn't in these headphones for what I wanted them for!! They do however, work real well with my home entertain system, which is all Pioneer!! I do a lot of video and audio editing on my computer, and these just fall short for that project. Another review I read said these are great if you don't mind tweaking your EQ, and I agree!! If you want great quality sounding headphones for home use, these might be for you!! But, if you need them for other things that require higher quality sound, avoid these! Very disappointed, Pioneer!! VERY!!
