Only stopping, turning off the car and waiting about 20 minutes will reset the thing.
Charles B. Firth
It can't just simply run the AppRadio app on the unit and the Sirius App displayed on my phone.

Don't take my word for it, just google and you will see how bad Pioneer Appradio really is.

Before I begin, I must tell you that I purchased this model off Crutchfield online where they have the $149.99 price, free shipping, and free installation kit/instructions. Also, I found an expired $10 off online coupon that surprisingly worked, so I paid only $139.99 for this! Obviously, this (very) low price will affect the way I review this unit.

I installed this unit in my '12 Dodge Challenger SXT to replace the factory head unit. I had already installed an MTX amp and 2 12" Alpine Type-R subs (this pounds really loud). Installation was a breeze (seriously, crimp same-colored wires together) and also installed the Microbypass parking brake bypass so that *my passenger*, ahem, can watch videos on our road trips. FYI, for the bypass to work, you simply crimp its blue wire to THE RADIO'S blue/white remote turn-on cable (not the one coming from the car), the green parking brake cable from THE RADIO (not from the car), and the black ground cable to the car's black ground cable. Once all cables have been crimped up, you're ready to go.

...or at least I thought I was. I went to push the unit into the opening to seal everything up, and guess what? IT DOESN'T FIT! So, Crutchfield was right: it will fit with modification. Instead of giving up, I grabbed a hacksaw and sawed off parts of this big plastic divider (why it's there, heaven only knows) and after vacuuming the mess and tucking all cables and PAC adapter (oh, I forgot, my car needed this, and Crutchfield will sell it to you for about 40% off with the purchase of the radio), and FINALLY I was ready to go (head's up, Challenger owners).

After ensuring that the unit did in fact work, I screwed everything back together.

I purchased the Stereo in February 2013 and installed it in July 2013 It only worked the day it was installed. Now all it does is GO IN TO AN ENDLESS BOOT UP CYCLE. I can't return the useless piece of junk for waiting so long to install it. I called the manufacturer (PIONEER) and described the problem to them, THEY WANT $80.00 JUST TO LOOK AT IT and see what the problem is. (as if they don't know) on top of that, I have to pay for shipping . I know what the problem is! They manufactured a Totally Useless Ridiculous Device (T.U.R.D) there are plenty of complaints on this product, just have to google Pioneer SPH-DA02 boot up problem, defect, malfunction to realize there are many other consumers reporting the same problem.

First off, I bought this from a different retailer and paid about one forty including shipping and a wire harness. At that price, this car stereo is barely worth it.

Install - Even though it might seem complicated, with the correct radio wire harness for your vehicle, installing this was pretty straight forward and unless you'll need quite a bit of custom work done, putting it in yourself shouldn't be too difficult. I installed it in a 2nd gen Subaru Legacy and it dropped right in. I actually wouldn't pay an installer to put it in because right there, that would raise the "out the door" price to something that's just too high.

Initial review - I haven't driven around much with this yet, but I will say that overall, it is way more frustrating than a car stereo should be. Listening to the radio and possibly using Pandora both seem pretty straight forward. Do not use the included iPod app! Instead download the free CarMediaPlayer. But for me, anything else beyond that involves too many steps to safely consider while driving. Even while parked, this thing seems awkward and a challenge to use proficiently. Trust me, this unit is in no way as easy to operate as all the youtube videos would have you suggest. Periodically, the screen turns black (but the volume button display still works), and Pandora routinely launches itself while I'm navigating between apps. The volume buttons, by the way, are a poor design. They're small, pretty much flush mounted, and beep every time you press them (which can't be disabled). An actual knob would be so much better. There is an option to hook the unit up to steering wheel controls, so if you have them in your car you might find those much easier to deal with.

I have had Pioneer products in my vehicles for over 15 years and this was the last. The idea of having full control of your iphone from the head unit is great and something I was waiting for. In reality it couldn't be worse! First there are the endless warnings that have to be accepted, then there is the constant need to launch the app from your phone. The unit is constantly locking up and crashing. Once again you will need to disconnect your phone and close all the apps running in the background before reconnecting the phone and going through all the warnings once again. This is not a safe way to be driving. There is more distractions using an Appradio than if you where using your phone and a regular head unit independently.

It gets worse! Pioneer offers zero customer support! While some companies like Waze, Aupeo, CommuteWX and others have worked with the user to update and improve their apps in order to make them work better with Appradio. Pioneer does not listen to any feedback or concerns from the customers, instead they provide useless updates that do not address any of the problems that people are having with the Appradio. I have called Pioneer, written emails and more, in an attempt to resolve serious issues with their product. In one instance Pioneer Customer Support's solution was that I should buy another Pioneer head unit.

Don't take my word for it, just google and you will see how bad Pioneer Appradio really is. If only Pioneer new how to use google, maybe then they would actually start addressing some of the major issues that customers are having!
