2.0 out of 5 stars Very dissapointed in Satallite Radio quality, June 11, 2006
By
This review is from: Pioneer Sirius Digital Satellite Tuner for Pioneer Headunits - SIR-PNR1 (Electronics)
I have been listening to Sirius over DISH Network for many months now and couldn't wait to get it in my car. I wasn't happy with adding an external control unit - so I purchased this module for my Pioneer head unit. First of all the sound quality is very dissapointing. It sounds like an AM station (not anyway near the CD quality of the DISH Network Sirius stations). The highs are clipped and are distorted. Some stations are very poor (like the disney station) others are ok. I thought there was something wrong with my unit so I took it to the car stereo guys at Best Buy and Circuit City. They told me that the sound quality was typical of satallite radio and there was nothing they could do about it. I am cancelling my Satallite radio account.
The SIR-PNR1 works fine but the navigation is terrible. You cannot twist your stereo knob and scroll thru the stations. You have to press the right arrow (like you are changing to the next station) over and over. The sound doesn't start playing after you set your station for about 2 seconds. That means that if you are not sure which station you want it's: over-arrow, wait, over-arrow, wait..... Then, once you find your station, the title is cut off. Only the first 8 characters are displayed. Terrible.

1.0 out of 5 stars Fair Receiver, worse Pioneer service, January 15, 2007
By
This review is from: Pioneer Sirius Digital Satellite Tuner for Pioneer Headunits - SIR-PNR1 (Electronics)
The receiver worked fine, for 10 months, then died. Shipped to Pioneer, took 6 weeks for replacement. Pioneer sent a refurbished model that died 15 minutes after the re-install, with all of the problems of the previous reviewer. A call to Pioneer to ask for expedited return, told no way, what was I thinking? Fair product, worse customer support.
