overall these are very nice and high quality speakers, but if you love bass, these might not be the best choice if you are putting these in a system without any subs.
the mid range and high ends of these speakers is fantastic, SO much better sounding than the stock speakers that came in my 2000 nissan sentra. however the bass output is significantly less than what the stock speakers put out, also the bass sounds a lot less.. "bassy". but that is probably true of most all 4 way speakers, so don't let that cause you to turn away from this specific model. i personally installed these into the rear 2 speaker slots and left the front ones stock and i find that is a good mix of bass and high end sound. highly recommended.

These are great speakers for the money. The sound quality is good and they can more then handle most aftermarket stereo and stock systems with little distortion. By far better then a stock speaker.

These sounded pretty good when I first got them and put them in the doors of my wifes 98 mazda protege (along with 6x9 Pioneers in the rear deck, all powered by a Pioneer receiver). But once I switched them along with receiver to my new car , a dodge challenger (where the rear deck has the 6.5's and the doors are 6x9), they sounded like crap. Somehow, at the exact same volume, the bass now clips very badly, even if I put 90% of the volume to the 6x9 speakers.
These sound okay, but I recommend bass blockers to keep these from clipping and relying on your other speakers for bass. (btw, the 6x9 Pioneers that match these still sound great and the bass on those is chest-pounding)

This is my third set of Pioneers and I will continue to buy them. These replaced my front door speakers for a Honda Accord. Be sure and read up on your vehicle first. For my front doors, a speaker replacement required adapters to fit in the old space, but I was able to improvise. I have a subwoofer, so I was able to purchase some bass blockers so these speakers would only have to handle the highs and mids.Bass Blockers Pairs 150 Hz cut-off. I only wish I didn't have to cover them up with the door panel.

I have a 99 Mitsubishi Galant My front speakers were blown(factory) After installing these speakers. New life has now been brought back to my car. I'm not a speakerphile so the technical jargon about watts and ohms I don't get. In laymans terms these are great speakers for the price. the dome tweeter puts out a great sound for highs for those who are into strings and vocals. and it takes a pounding with the high volume I play my music at If you're going to install these yourself get yourself some metal screws and a metal driil bit cause these speakers don't match the same holes as the factory, I had to make my own. I also bought the 5 way 6 X 9( but I haven't installed them yet. stiil have the factories in now these 6 1/2 make good front door speakers if your looking for bass or to use these as rear speakers in your car then I wouldn't recommend it unless you have a bass alternative in the rear. Good for mids and highs but lousy bass. Not to mention the good price

Great speakers,

The mids are excellent but the bass is not all that great. I connected them to my system and I am really pleased with the sound.

I replaced the rear stock speakers in an older Honda Accord. I had already upgraded the fronts to an older version of this Pioneer speaker. The bass response now seems clearer, but maybe weaker than the old stock speakers. The highs and mids improved substantially.

1996 Saturn SC2, excellent sound, beautiful bass, clear highs.,

In our '96 Saturn SC2 the factory speakers just couldn't handle the bass that the factory stereo could put out! These things fixed the problem instantly, and I imagine could easily handle some amps to give them even more kick. I am pretty sure the lower ohm rating, 4 ohms instead of 6 ohms for the factory ones, means that they are louder at a lower volume level than the factory speakers, while I know that lower ohms can increase the number of speakers on a single circuit. While I am not a heavy duty audiophile, I do think that Pioneer is a very high quality product, for the price range. If you are really picky, you could go with their D- or even PRS- series, but you'll pay about $200-$300 a pair.
