Pioneer Nautica Speakers Designed from the ground up to meet current boating/marine requirements, Pioneer's new marine speakers incorporate superior components and design to improve sound and resist the wear and tear associated with harsh, wet environments. Water-resistant injection molded polypropylene (IMPP) composite cones, elastomer surrounds, acrylonitrile-elastomer styrene (AES) glass fiber reinforced basket/magnet covers and gold tinsel wire are all incorporated in the new Nautica speakers to endure rusting, corrosion and warping.

TS-MR1640 Features Water-resistant IMPP Composite Cone Pioneer's popular injection molded polypylene (IMPP) cones produce outstanding mid-bass response and resist the effects of salt water, humidity and extreme heat. 1-1/8-Inch Poly-Ether Imide Dome Tweeter with Magnetic Fluid This tweeter delivers rich, smooth highs. Elastomer Surround Each speaker utilizes an elastomer surround that resists color fading or running, which extends the longevity of the product. Acrylonitrile-Elastomer Styrene (AES) Glass Fiber Reinforced Basket/Magnet Cover The AES cover protects the magnetic circuit that can affect the performance of the speaker. The speakers also sport the pure white AES grilles to resist fading and yellowing caused by direct sunlight and heat. Gold Tinsel Wire Gold tinsel wire and gold plated wire terminals are used for better current transfer.

I picked a set of these speakers of last year for a great price and so far they have been great. I was very surprised how clear and clean they sound. Probably not the loudest speakers on the market but they are more than enough for what I need.

We remodeled our bathroom and I wanted to pipe the TV and stereo sound into the room, mostly to listen the traffic reports. Rather than traditional house speakers which might not stand up to the heat and humidity of the bathroom, I choose to go with marine grade speakers. The contractor looked at me funny, but after a year they are performing extremely well. Terrific sound quality and reasonably priced. Would be worth considering for similar projects.

I purchased two sets of these for mine and my friends horse trailers. May sound strange to some of you but horse trailers and some campers have speakers on the outside to listen while hangig out. I only found marine speakers for this. I had no problems with the install and they have held up great. It has been over a year now with good results. I wish they were a better sound quality but that could be my stereo etc. I would like to be able to turn them up a bit more without distortion but they are really pretty good for my application.
