5.0 out of 5 stars Great value in tiny package.
Good sound for the money in a beautiful and shallow package. I have it in a sealed .75 cf fiberglass enclosure, running off a 1200 peak watt mono amp and it handles it just fine. I've heard 12" traditional deep subs that don't sound as good as this one. The response and articulation are impressive. This sub can handle the extreme lows of around 20hz! Cosmetically,...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected
I have used the preveous generation Shallow Pioneer subs in the past with great success (the 10" one sounds better than the 12" on bytheway) but this new version disapointed me. I calculated the Theil/Small parameters for a Total System Q of just under 9 for a box volume of .9 cu feet. The F3 should be about 35 Hz. I Built a very heavily reenforced box but the sub has...

Cosmetically, it's a good looking sub. It would look great in a clear or windowed enclosure. The back of the sub is curved smoothly and looks nice.

This thing is small, only takes less then a square foot of air space and puts out great sound!!! I built a custom fiberglass box to put this under the back seat of my 2008 Dodge Ram quad cab, so that I don't lose seating space, and it is PERFECT!!! I only have on sub in my truck, and this thing shakes your chest!!! Everyone that gets in my truck that does not know it is there, is pleasantly surprised when they hear it. It has some killer bass, and it will rattle the windows, which is exactly what I was going for!!! I highly recomend this thing if you have a small amount of space and want some killer base.

I was very excited about this product and when it arrived I went straight to my truck to install it. I have a 2004 Ford F150 supercab and I'm pushing the Pioneer with a Alpine 500 watt mono 4ohm amp. I have had numerous subs and all of them just didn't deliver the deep bass that I was craving, but Im here to tell you that my dream came true. This pioneer really delivered with hard deep bass!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow, January 24, 2012
This review is from: Pioneer TS-SW3001S4 12-Inch Shallow Step Up S4 Subwoofer (Electronics)
I was blown away by these subs. Given they are shallow mounts, I thought I would be sacrificing the deep bass I wanted. I was wrong. These subs deliver the deep bass I was looking for and then some. They shake my entire car like crazy. Everyone who has experienced my setup has had the same reaction: "Holy crap this thing is crazy." These subwoofers are absolutely phenomenal, and given that rival shallow mount subs (like Alpine Type R) run closer to $500, these are incredibly good value. Thank you Pioneer!

I purchased two of these last year and used them inside my 99 sierra, they worked great because of limited space, I have a memphis audio 1000W D Class amp running these speakers at 4 ohms. After having my system PROFESSIONALLY tuned and EQed I was told I was well in my safety wattage. Well after a year of use and I mean careful use the spider wire glue has melted off and now the speaker has a horrible popping noise when turned up even half way. These speakers did a great job until now even the people who installed my system started carrying these speakers in their store after hearing how it sounded, they expected a punchy bass that you would expect in a sealed box but it hit the lows and sounded wonderful. Be careful with these just a little to much wattage and they are toast....

5.0 out of 5 stars Very pleased, January 10, 2011
This review is from: Pioneer TS-SW3001S4 12-Inch Shallow Step Up S4 Subwoofer (Electronics)
I have been very impressed with this sub in many ways. It has very good sound quality and appears to be well built with high quality materials. I'm only putting 150W RMS into it and it hits pretty hard due to it's high 93dB sensitivity. I'm sure it could handle much more. I also purchase the UD-SW12B Pioneer enclosure and this has been an amazing combination. For all owners of any 07-2011 Tundra CrewMax this is a perfect fit behind the rear seats as if it was made for this truck. People are surprised when they hear it and then find out it's a shallow mount sub. I couldn't be happier.

5.0 out of 5 stars Massive power in a tiny package!, November 13, 2010

This sub is part of my first system, and buying it was a grating experience; I run a computer repair and networking company, so I'm often hauling server boxes and computer towers (along other things) in my trunk. On the other hand, I love music and I wanted to complement my system with a sub. A lot of my friends have systems of their own, but they've all got traditional deep subs - I was afraid that this wouldn't put out enough to satisfy me.

Turns out I was so incredibly (but amazingly) wrong. This pounds just as hard, or harder, than most deep systems I've heard - indeed, only JL and Alpine type-X sound better (keeping in mind that those systems cost 3-4x more). It's incredibly thin, but when you've got it in a box, it sounds amazing - you can really feel it in your chest, and that's with a quarter volume. I have it paired with a Kicker ZX750.1 mono amp - with the gain at half and volume low, you can still feel the sub going.

It has a bit of a break-in period; after about 25 hours or so, it really starts to shine. And the best part? It costs $100 bucks. Hell, 10" Boss speakers go for this much (not quite, but still). I'm contemplating buying another just because of the experience I've had with this one.

Anyway, if you've got space restrictions and you're looking for decent bass (obviously, not gonna be winning competitions with this) for daily use, Pioneer is the way to go!

I recent purchased this woofer, built my own box to 1 cubic foot of air, and wired it to a 2 channel bridged 1400 watt amp.

This set-up sounded great! alot of Spl for such a small woofer. However i purchased it for 105.99, and now 2 weeks later the same exact model for 219.99? Whats up with that. I was looking to expand to two of these woofers.

This sub works awesome in my 2010 Toyota Crew Max. The only problem I found was finding a box slim enough to fit in my truck. If you purchase this sub, go ahead and purchase the box suggested.

I calculated the Theil/Small parameters for a Total System Q of just under 9 for a box volume of .9 cu feet. The F3 should be about 35 Hz. I Built a very heavily reenforced box but the sub has a grundgy sound like the magnetic structure lacked precision. It was loud enough and went down low enough but wasn't very clean. Oh well. Back to Infinity.
