Fun verse for those who enjot tobacco!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Pipe and Pouch: The Smokers Own Book of Poetry (Granger index reprint series) (Hardcover)
Pipe and Pouch is a great book for people who love poetry and an occassional smoke. In an age when tobacco users are a group of almost outcasts, this book gives pleasure and comfort to the stalwart smoker. Light that pipe or cigar and join Daniel Webster, William Cowper, Lord Byron and others as they sing odes and sonnets to the joys of tobacco.

This review is from: Pipe And Pouch: The Smokers Own Book Of Poetry (Paperback)
For years before the recent attacks on the use of tobacco, it was considered one of the best companions for the lonely hours and contemplative, quiet moments; and of all the methods of using it, the pipe suited this role best. Though there are a few poems celebrating the cigar and the cigarette, most of this collection is about the smoking of the pipe, and those who smoke it. The style is somewhat antique: that is, these poems rhyme. Many are very well written, others not quite up to that mark. Nevertheless almost all are characterized by an honest zeal usually found only in love poems, and this passion carries the day, despite any warts. To be sure, any anti-smoking advocate would find much to fault here, but it was not for them this collection was assembled. If you love the pipe, it's culture and companionship, you are likely to appreciate this little book.
