Okay for Pippi fans - old-fashioned style.
Somewhat clunky animation by Nelvana and Saturday-morning KidVid pace and dramatic flow, this DVD complements the existing Pippi stories just fine. In fact, consider it a calming retro-step back from 2004's standard of frenetic, violent anime styling. Good for the under-ten set. If Nelvana felt like issuing more along these lines, I'd buy 'em.

Good, but not as great as the original
My students fell in love with Pippi this year, and really enjoyed "The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking", which is not animated. This one was good too, but not as exciting.

She is cheerful, creative, strong, brave, and just fun. No scary or truly mean characters. No charcters dying. Just pure fun adventure for kids. Just one caution: if you already got Captain Longstocking, this will be a repeat (this story is part of the Captain Longstocking DVD).
