5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product...Amazing Customer Service
I had to write something here. I ordered these pads and seriously got them in two days. They shipped out from california and I got them in NYC in two days. Piranha was such a pleasure to deal with. I called them about a question before buying the pads and the phone was answered on the first ring. Just amazing. The owner even wrote me a handwritten note. Classy touch...

2.0 out of 5 stars I like them, not anymore
My old shin guards continually needed to be adjusted when sparing. Have been using these fellas for about two months now. They slip on quick and stay on nicely, but are always a drag to get off. Best brand I've used yet (2).

Update

Pads are great. I am a 5'11" 170 pound guy with a normal build and I bought the Large size based on the suggestion of Piranha. They fit like a glove. Best part is that they don't have the hurtful lip by your toes like the Fairtex and Twins ones. When I wore the fairtex ones, I would kick the bag and it would dig into my toes. These ones are so comfortable. I would buy them again.

Overall a great experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kicks were fast as lightnin', November 16, 2007
Excellent shin and instep pads. The shin pad is strong and durable and the instep pad is very flexible. These pads allow for free movement especially at the ankle and the instep pad doesn't hinder your movement, you can easily curl your toes back to hit with the ball of your foot, which most foot and instep pads don't let you do easily or sometimes not at all. These are also very easy to quickly put on and take off.

I did a mass order on Amazon from a few different companies for MMA gear. The shin guards from Piranha were the first to arrive (less than 48 hours from my order) with a personal letter from the management thanking me for my purchase. I have to say that was a classy touch. However, that would be a moot point if the gear was poor quality. I have to admit the shin guards live up to the hype. They don't slip, offer great protection while taking a beating, and fit comfortably (no digging into my skin and such). Therefore, with their top notch customer service and attention to quality, Piranha is my go to company for now on when purchasing new gear.

Have been using the shin guards for a few weeks now and they are comfortable and the quality is just excellent. My sparring partner is thankful that I have the extra padding when I am kicking him in the head. I just wish he had a pair.

Shipping is super fast and the guys handling the product even slipped in a personal note. Will do business with them again, and soon.

They're pretty comfortable, and fit very snug. I've been doing a lot of kicks to a heavy bag, and the difference with and without these is obvious. I will agree with the other person who wrote a review who said they aren't the easiest thing to take off. They go on really easy though. I think it's a combination of sweat plus being out of breath and sore after a work out that makes taking them off a lot harder than getting them on. However, I can't imagine that other products which fit as snugly would be able to come off any easier.

Bottom line is I'd recommend these. Good value, and it saves your shins.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shin & Instep Pads, December 24, 2007

These pads are amazing. I was very pleases when i received them in the mail. The material is very comfortable, Doesn't cause skin irritation on me and it doesn't hinder my movement in any way. Although it is somewhat set like a mold on the shin it is still very comfortable.
The only down side is that i was mislead about them being easy to slip in and out of. Putting them on Is very easy and the drawstrings are actually quite useful, but they do not come off easily or quickly. I am pleased with the seller and the product and i would advise MMA students these. I myself do Muay Thai and am very happy with them.

It's been about five months and the stitching on the back has torn to the point that I can no longer use these. I'm back to using my first pair, which work fine except they slip. I suggest looking at Windy if you're looking for a set.

5.0 out of 5 stars Piranha Gear Rocks!, July 7, 2011
This review is from: Piranha Gear Grappling Shin Instep Pads (Misc.)
I purchased these shinpads off the Piranha gear site. they are great quality for the price, they are a hundred times better than my old velcro strap ones and I love them. what i really want to talk about is the simply fantastic customer service from Piranha Gear. I was unsure about sizing- I'm a girl, i practice Muay Thai and most of the gear is men's sizing and if it's not it's frakking pink :( - and emailed them. they got back to me the same day with their recommendations and their advice was spot on. even if it wasn't, they told me it was no problem returning them if they didn't fit and no restock charge!!!) shipping was fast.

what i really appreciated is they took the time to explain the differences between all the shinpads they carry, rather than just trying to sell me the most expensive pair on the site.

I highly recommend buying from this company. you won't be disappointed. and if you are, they will fix it.

EDIT:

so I've been using these for a few weeks now and I'm really pleased. they slip a bit when i kick on the heavy bag especially when i get sweaty. I may have measured incorrectly and could possibly have went with a Small instead of the medium, though the small might have been too tight. i should have asked what the difference was in the two sizes. they are easy to get off and on IMO. i cant imagine ever going back to the two strap kind. seriously.

they took some decently hard kicks in sparring and they felt okay, but i haven't done a lot of sparring with these yet, once i do i will edit again.

EDIT 2: these are holding up beautifully. the foam must be denser than it appears because I've been sparring weekly and my shins aren't destroyed. they are a bit more time consuming to clean- you have to dry them out after class and i wash them with Bio Blast to get the stank out once a week. they feel like part of my leg- I can't recommend them enough to women or smaller guys that are overwhelmed by the size of those other, giant shinguards.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top-Notch for Muay Thai and Kickboxing!!!, May 12, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Piranha Gear Grappling Shin Instep Pads (Misc.)
I practice Muay Thai and Kickboxing and have tried several shin pads, but these are the best by far. They stay in place WAY better than the shin pads with just the straps in back. They do slip out of place a touch now and then, but that will happen with ANY pad when kicking with appreciable force. I'm going to buy a second pair for my sparring partner so he will stop taking breaks during the round to fix his shin pads (he has the pads with straps).

I highly recommend these!

4.0 out of 5 stars excellent product and service, April 13, 2009

I purchased these shin guards because I needed a tighter fitting guard with instep protection. I used these for the first time last week and I have to say this is a great product. The only issues I have, like others have mentioned is that they are difficult to get off once you are exhausted and sweating. I would and I have recommended this product to others. Great customer service.
