Product Description

Worried you're going to be attacked by flying baseball bats? Then THESE are the pads for you. We had them made from real leather and injection molded foam. That means they are tight and don't have any extra mass - they just provide an incredible amount of protection. Even though they are so thick you feel almost like a robot with them on, they are very light and don't restrict your mobility at all.

They have two straps on the back of the shin which close with Velcro and run through a metal loop. The foot (or instep) has a thick, wide elastic strap to keep it in place. The instep strap is in the middle of the foot, so it won't interfere with pivots on the ball of your foot.

For sizing, we recommend you use your (men's) t-shirt size as a guide. That generally works pretty well unless you're really thin or heavy. If you have thicker lower legs, you should probably go with a larger size. While the straps are pretty adjustable, big, beefy calves are going to want a little extra strapping.

These are used mostly for MMA, Muay Thai, and kickboxing, but they really work for anyone that wants to make certain noting is going to hurt you shins. We would not recommend these for grappling work where you plan to combine stand up and ground work without break. We do carry shin pads that work for that, but these would be too bulky to work well when you're on the ground.

The best protection for your shins out there!!!
ive used top contender brand and twins brand but they dont offer the protection these do, not even close. and what i mean by protection is, if you want to kick as hard as you can while sparring or training without the doubts or second thoughts of "am i gonna hit his/her knee, elbow or shin?"
In other words you can kick with reckless abandon, because you know your shins are well protected.
i like how they come up a bit to protect knee and ankles.
Customber service was very good and prompt.

ps. if you want to toughen up your shins, theses are not the shin guards to get. but a great pair to get if you have a 2nd set for when you shins are banged up and still want to train.

I was a bit hesitant with Piranha products due to poor fit in the past, but I am happy with this purchase.

Sizing is right on. I'm 6'1" and around 190lbs. Got the large one and the fit is just about perfect. The top of the pad did not cover up to my knee cap like shown on the picture, but I actually don't want it that high. It comes just to the knee cap on me. So if you want to have coverage as seen on the picture, perhaps xlarge would be better.

There are 2 velcro straps for the calf area and an elastic band for the foot guard, the pad stayed on without significant shifting.

Protection is excellent. The front of the pad has about 1 1/4" of high density foam. The foot is well covered, almost to the extend of my toes. No pain at all so far. This is a two piece design with one piece for the shin and a separate piece for the foot. Attached together by leather material. Although there is no instep protection specifically, the gap between the two pads are so small that I don't feel any pain in my in step when working with pads and bags. However, I can see a situation where if you kick someone's shin just right, the blow can land between the two pads and there could be some problems.

Overall I'm happy with the purchase and would recommend these pads.
