This is a very well designed Gi. The cut is great for fighting/sparring ( kumite ), it allows for better range of movement. I not big fan of drawstring type pants, but the design on these is well thought out. It pulls evenly without discomfort.
The material is top notch, as is the stitching. The package arrives packed with care, and included with the gi are care directions - typed in booklet form. Not just a piece of paper clumsily cut with scissors, in other words these people care about their product.

That leads me to best part of this product - the customer service. You tell Piranha cares about what they've created and sell. But more than that, their response to email and the handling of returns is excellent. I ordered a size below what I normally order, because I thought a smaller size would give me the shorter arms and legs I was looking for. And my body probably fits a 3 1/2, best. When I discovered the size 3 was too small Piranha accepted my return, but wanted to know more about my sizing... so they could improve on their product ( I don't think they need to change anything though ).

For the price I don't think you can find a better gi. And with fantastic customer service, and a product made in the USA it can't be beat.
I shop with many small company's because of my hobbies, and it's a hard life running a small business. Hopefully Piranha's hard work will pay off.

Very well made. This is definitely a heavy weight uniform, so it is a little stiff, but makes a great sound with kicks and punches.

Item was delivered with speed and was well taken care of. Uniform is a great deal and works very well. I have been training for 20 years now and will absolutely recommend this item to others.

Seriously, this heavyweight Dogi is a true bargain. It is every bit as thick as my Shureido, but is much softer. I feels like you've been wearing it for over a year. Definitely purchase one if you're in the market right now. These cost less than other medium or student weight Dogi.

They do run SLIGHTLY large; not extra large. So, if you normally get a 5.5 from Shureido, get a 5 from Piranha.

The "tails" of the kimono are longer than I like, but that's a small matter.

I like the 4/5 sleeves on mine.

They do not offer embroidery.

Overall, a FANTASTIC Dogi, at an unbelieveable price.

This gi is an amazing value! At 14oz it's heavier than my Sheradio, and with it's bushed cotton, it's softer too. When I ordered the gi I goofed. I ordered two size 5. I meant to order one size 4 and one size 5, because I read these run large... I wanted to cover my bases. The reviewer who said they run large was correct. In talking(email) with the company I found them to be very friendly... like family. They even sent me a size 4 to try out. I eventually sold one of the size 5 to a fellow instructor, and EVENTUALLY returned the other size 5. In the meantime the owner of Piranha Gear, and I stayed in contact, exchanging conversation ranging from my being an instructor to his relatives playing paintball (I'm also part of a paintball team... Warriors For Christ). I know we will remain in contact because Piranha is more than just a company, they are people who care.... Right now I'm waiting to order my next gi... from Piranha Gear. (they are momentarily out of stock on the particular gi I want) Right now I don't see myself buying a gi anywhere else... partly due to the high quality/low price, and partly because of there people!

You will not regret a purchase from Piranha Gear.

I've been wearing karate uniforms for over 42 years. This one feels the best. Perfect fit, loose were it needs to be loose, secure were it needs to be secure. The quality is excellent, expecially for the price. I would pay 250.00 for this uniform. The combed cotten has no defects and is soft on the skin. Don't get me wrong, I still like the old canvas scratchy one, just not as much as this one!

I was immediately impressed when I opened the package. Believe the reviews on here about this gi. This is without a doubt the finest Karate gi I've owned. The brushed cotton is soft and comfortable, while still being crisp. It really snaps with punches and kicks. It's so nice to find an American company making a quality item. Everyone in the dojo was impressed with the quality and look. I've heard these run a little big, but the #5 fit was great for me [5'10", 180lbs] so the sizing seems to be spot on especially considering it may shrink a little bit upon washing. [also comes with excellent care instructions]

Exellent worksmanship throuthout. I'm enjoying the uniform every time I'm training in it. It is really heavy though and hard if you follow the advice not to use the drier. I also wish the jacket was a bit longer. I have a long back (and short legs, sigh) so many uniforms are either too short or too wide. This one was a better fit than many but still not perfect(I've bought size 4 for my 5'5" and 135lb)

I have been practicing Shotokan karate for 6.5 years. In that time I have purchased several different brands of Gi, and this is definitely one of the best. This gi is truly heavyweight, with very thick cotton and incredibly durable stitching. It is also extremely soft right out of the bag- even softer than some of my oldest gis. Being a 5'3" female of muscular build, I was concerned that sizing would be an issue given that many other reviews said they ran large, but I encountered no size issues with girth or length. Also, the shrinking after the first wash was minimal. The only minor complaint I have is that the drawstring and the top ties are stiff, and therefore have difficulty keeping a knot. So, during a strenuous practice I often have to step aside to re-tie my pants and/or top. However, I'm sure this will be corrected over time as the cotton relaxes. I have no doubt this gi will last a long, long time, making it well worth the cost (FYI, I think I could have gotten a better deal if I ordered direct from Piranha). Finally, the folks at Piranha Gear are fantastic. My order arrived ahead of schedule, and the customer service and accessibility of their website is second to none. I predict that Piranha Gear will continue to have great success as a martial arts outfitter.

This Gi is awesome, I highly recommend it! Piranha's service is pretty good as well. I will probably get another one in the future.
