Recently my young son has become interested in keeping a secrets book. He is just learning to write, so his letters tend to be large. When I began searching for a diary for him, I knew I needed something slightly larger to accommodate his writing. This book will serve his needs perfectly! It's not very large, still small enough for him to hide away, but it has a neat pirate image on the front. It's not overly frightening, and best of all, at least according to my son, is the lock and key. If you can't lock it, you can't keep it secret (so he says.) While not the highest quality lock, it will serve my son just fine.

The pages are a slightly heavier paper and will not tear too easily, which is important as I'm certain this will be opened and closed often. Also, I'd imagine if he's using a pen, it won't bleed through as they do on the tissue-thin papers I have seen in other diaries.

Overall, it's a nice choice for a boy.

This was much better quality than expected. It took me almost six months of looking at locking diaries which my son was bugging me to get. This is perfect for a boy of almost any age(hard to find), mine is 7. Even better the lock is your standard luggage type lock so we finaly have a key that will also open up his treasure chest. Very easy to pick but I was tired of breaking out a screwdriver to get him in it and then having him lock it again. Overall very good quality, thick pages, personalized page for his name and a very solid cover. There were even some temp tattoos inside it. Highly recommended if you have a boy who wants a place to put down his private thoughts. And to top it off, very reasonable price compared to book stores, about 1/2 the cost.

I purchased this for my grandson who is 8 yrs old. He wanted a diary with a key and since he likes pirates, this diary was very special. Lots of pages to write secret messages! It arrived before Christmas even though it was supposed to be after Christmas. The vendor promised early delivery and it was on time. Very pleased with the service and the product.

I looked every where for a diary for my nephew. My aunt found this diary on amazon and I ordered it first thing. My nephew was really excited when he opened it.

My grandson wanted a diary but they were all too "girly". This one was perfect because it is a "pirates log". He loved it.

Just the right size for smaller pirates! Each page has a skull and cross bones at the top. The lock and key are great for small hands and there is plenty of space for writing on the lines.

This pirate diary was a great success with my 6 year old grandson. It's very sturdy and looks good. Also arrived in half the time stated from America to Australia. Good value-- even with postage added.

I tried bookstores first with no luck - my grandson wanted a journal with a lock on it. I would have liked this to be a bit bigger, but other than that, it's exactly what we were looking for and the price was good. Shipment made in a very timely manner.

My grandson wanted a book he could lock. What better than a book with a pirate picture. He loves to write stories and now he can keep them safe. My grandson is only 7 and was so excited to receive his special book. It was just what he wanted.

Our boys, ages 5 and 6, absolutely love their diaries! Very nice! Arrived quickly and worth the price. Would buy again. (=
