A real page-turner,
This review is from: Coxinga and the Fall of the Ming Dynasty (Paperback)
A well-written, detailed, and fast-paced recount of one of Chinese history's most famous heroes or rogues, depending on which side of the gunwale you stood with regard to this "Pirate King" of the South China seas. Like all legendary characters, it is nearly impossible to completely separate fact from myth. In Coxinga's case, the facts are fantastical enough the myth is obsolete... unless you're one of the hundreds of thousands who still worship at his temples. Yup, this guy's got temples.
