Review
Pirate tales should always be bold, lusty, and exciting. This statement certainly holds true for Connie Mason's newest, Pirate. If you're looking for a wild romance, tinged with danger and betrayal, Pirate will thrill your senses and melt your world. Bliss Grenville and Guy DeYoung would have been eternally happy together had it not been for Bliss's overprotective father and her overzealous fiancé. Their marriage and love would have lasted through all time. Betrayal hurts the most when it destroys something as wonderful as the bond that Bliss and Guy share. Money and greed drive the wheel that crushes newlywed happiness. The scars on Guy's heart bind him to his hatred like a vengeful angel. His only purpose in life is to destroy the men who put him in prison. His greatest desire is to punish the woman he once loved for her cold and conniving participation in the plot against him. With his new identity as Hunter the pirate, he can avenge his own pretended death and bring down all who were part of this sinister plot. Blind fortune and a twist of fate reunites Bliss and Guy, this time as captive and pirate. As Hunter, he is determined to make Bliss love the pirate she fears. He vows to return her as damaged merchandise to her father and fiancé. Bliss, however, is persistent in her requests to be released so she can look for the son she lost years ago - the child born of her union with Guy DeYoung, the child she though dead. With this new revelation, Hunter plunges into an even more dangerous identity, turning in his pirate garb for that of an English viscount. The pirate finds himself in New Orleans, now trying to bury his outlaw past. And this time, when he claims Bliss, no one will interfere. Connie Mason's Pirate is a swaggering tale of betrayals and guilt, danger and aggression, passion and love. Driven by the hot, molten desire that flows between Guy and Bliss, the story builds to a only climax comparable to those felt by the frustrated lovers. The only problem with the book is, perhaps, the redundant confessions and tawdry sex scene that occur at the very end of the book. After everything these wonderful characters had been through, this was too far over the top for this reviewer's taste. Scalding passion! A pirate tale full of lust and revenge! Pirate is a sensation! Characters vibrant with life and love! A plot that sizzles with excitement! Connie Mason strikes boldly with a RE-bounding tale of danger and denials! Karen Ellington --
