One of the best Pirate romances out there...,
By
This review is from: Pirate (Leisure Historical Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
I have to say that this was one of the very best in pirate romances out there that I have read. It is full of accurate details and passion that only Connie Mason could write. The love between Bliss and Guy is so heartwrenching that I wanted to cry. The "pirate" Hunter that Guy has become will leave you breathless. He is sexy and utterly oozing sex appeal. The villians are true villians in the sense, their hate is deep and real. Guy DeYoung is left for dead after an assassin attacks him and destroys his eye. Hunter is born, the ruthless pirate. He is bent on revenge for the people involved in his misery. He catches one of the "enemy" by chance and whisks her off to his island as a captive. Bliss is used as a pawn in his game of revenge. Hunter intends on using her then discarding her, but inbetween there he falls in love with her, and knows he can't let her go. This is an excellent read, I recommend it to anyone who likes pirate romance. The sex is steamy and Mason always makes you feel as if you are there with the characters.

THIS BOOK IS FANTANTIC, I LOVED IT,

This review is from: Pirate (Leisure Historical Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Based On Pine Island near Ft. Myers Fla. Pirate was interesting and as all of Ms. Mason's books made me want to learn more about the area. Guy and Bliss being married secretly are separated by two very greedy men(her father and his business partner, who wanted to marry Bliss for her money.) Guy being falsely accused of stealing by the two is thrown into prison, thinking all the time that Bliss was in with them. He escapes when the partner hires a man to kill him. being insured. Guy is taken in by the brotherhood and begins his life as a Pirate seeking revenge on Bliss and the two men. The day their paths cross again, Guy finds that he doesn't hate her like he thought he did.The story keeps you very interested and does alot to the emotions as one is reading it. It is an excellent book, making you feel part of the story instead of merely reading it.

This is what romance novels are about. I fell hopeless in love with Guy De Young. My heart broke for him and what he had endured.
The visual images are wonderful and it is very sexy. Great,Great book! READ IT!

This is my first Connie Mason book, but it definately won't be my last. I stayed up all night just to finish it. A wonderful read of adventure, villians, heros, and passion. I was rooting for Bliss and Guy with the turn of every page. I vacation to the Carribean every year and could just visualize the pirate life Connie describes. A real page turner and a definate keeper. Keep 'em coming Connie!

While not the greatest of pirate romances (see my Best Pirate/Privateer Romances list), it's still an entertaining story. It begins in New Orleans in 1804 where Bliss Grenville, descended from French aristocrats, falls in love with her father's stable master, Guy de Young, a young man from common roots. They marry against her father's wishes and in defiance of her father's having betrothed her to another man--Gerald Faulk, a wealthy American in the shipping business. Bliss' father and fiancé conspire to falsely imprison Guy and then send an assassin after him who, in the fight, takes Guy's right eye. Guy believes Bliss has abandoned him for Faulk and Bliss believes Guy is dead. Wounded and starved, Guy seeks refuge with the Lafitte brothers, pirates who have grown rich on stolen bounty in the Caribbean. Guy adopts a new identity as Hunter. Seven years later, now a wealthy pirate, Guy (as Hunter) discovers Bliss among their captives. If you can excuse some improbable plot developments and the heroine at times seeming rather dense (she didn't recognize her own husband just because he'd grown a bit older and lost an eye), then you will find this an entertaining pirate tale though there are certainly better ones out there.

I was hooked right away. My first Connie Mason book but I already went out and bought 2 more. I hope they are all this good. Not quite as good as Beatrice Small stories but enjoyable to read. Good characters, good story line which I leave to others to describe. It had just enough of everything to make you want to keep reading. I understand about not recognizing Guy but you have to over look some of these things in our romance stories. This was a good story and I would recommend it to a friend and especially if you like pirate romance stories which I definitly do. I rated it 4 1/2 stars.
