SWEET and TENDER. This book will make u cry, laugh, and feel loved. Sam and Maria are in love and will do anything to be together. There are twists and turns, but at the end Sam "the devil" and Maria "the witch" are together to love forever

This was my first Danelle Harmon, and I'm not quite sure if I want to read her back list or not. The book is just mediocre. What really bothered me was the level of writing -- was this her first book? There are ellipses EVERYwhere.

Here's an example on pg. 367: "Dead...dead...dead...No!!!!"

pg. 139: "You can't do it Maria....You can't..." then a...

This was my first Danelle Harmon, and I'm not quite sure if I want to read her back list or not. The book is just mediocre. What really bothered me was the level of writing -- was this her first book? There are ellipses EVERYwhere.

Here's an example on pg. 367: "Dead...dead...dead...No!!!!"

pg. 139: "You can't do it Maria....You can't..." then a few lines later, "Told you so...told you so...you can't do it..."

And another: "Sa-a-a-a-a-a-a-A-A-AAAAM!"

Ok, there was no ellipse there. But there was a lot of "No-o-ooo" and "Oh Gooood noooo" and "SAAAAAM!" peppered throughout the book.

I felt like I was reading highly unedited, quickly put-together fanfiction. The characterizations are very shallow; Maria is an annoying, one-sided character and Sam is the same. He bellows a lot and says big things, and I suppose he's heroic, but he's not that special. The author tells too much of the characters' inner thoughts, even for the most inane things, making this book one long, very unbelievable narrative. Near the end of the book, Sam thinks to himself, "By the gods, princess, I'll not let ye down!" I thought this was just comical beyond belief, straight out one of those stereotypical romances that make truly good writers look bad.

If you want to read a Danelle Harmon, I'd start with something else.
