What better place for naptime than a grand pirate ship on the high seas?

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Clever rhyming text in 'pirate speak' and colorful, digital gouache illustrations in muted tones create a standout concept book. . . . The facial expressions and body language of this duo are spot-on as they hop, jump, or dance, and the featured colors pop off the page. Children will pore over the small and large details in the artwork. This title inspires creative play, and is likely to be a treasure for years to come."—School Library Journal

5.0 out of 5 stars SAIL AWAY TO IMAGINATION AND CLEVER WORD-PLAY! November 13, 2011
Format:Hardcover
PIRATE NAP is brilliant!! If you haven't read it yet, you're missing out on a delightful, amazing book.

The ryhme is clever and fun, with just the right amount of color-play for teaching toddlers colors.

PIRATE NAP encourages kids to have an imagination, too, as brothers race through the house pretending to be pirates and also pretend their little sister is a sea monster out to steal their treasure.

Sail away with a wonderful pirate story with the child in your life. If you haven't read PIRATE NAP yet, check it out. So cute.

5.0 out of 5 stars Aye, Mateys, A Great Pirate Read! February 14, 2012
Format:Hardcover
Danna Smith and Valeria Petrone have done it again: this time two brothers pirate their way from the dreaded nap time and discover a treasure trove of fun. Avast! Too late they discover the purple monster from the sea who creeps up and steals their plunder...or tries. The lively rhythm of the text and the delightful illustrations will anchor young readers' attention and spur them to create pirate play of their own. My favorite part is when the boys are in the attic and find a wooden trunk--a treasure chest of course. The text reads, "Pirate's luck. The treasure's big. Yo, ho, ho! The pirates dig." And what does the older pirate take from all the treasures in the trunk? A book! Warms this writer's heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pirates don't take naps! January 31, 2012
Format:Hardcover
Books about pirates are always a hit and this one is no exception. A young boy and his brother are trying their best to escape nap time. These kids have awesome imaginations and use household objects for toys. This would make a great story time book. The illustrations are bright and bold. The length is perfect for short attention spans and is told in rhyme, making it fun to read aloud.
