2.0 out of 5 stars Not my favorite heroine
I gotta say I loved all the women in the previous books (including the draig series) some more than others, but I just could NOT like Mei for some reason. I just didn't see Jarek with someone like her. I saw him more with someone like Sam. While he was absolutely the perfect man all around lol she was just so petty and didn't seem real enough to me. The whole story was...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Pirate Prince, July 10, 2008
This review is from: The Pirate Prince (Lords of the Var, 5) (Paperback)
Princess Zhang "Mei" is upset by the news her ancestor tells her is in her future. She believes fate has led her to marry Prince Song Lok, the Prince of the rival dynasty on her planet. Mei feels honor bound to follow the path she believes fate has set for her.

Prince Jarek, a Var Prince and Space Captain, flies where he wants and does as he pleases, without the royal title. Currently, Jarek is making plans to rescue a crewmember that's been abducted by a drug ring. The first rescue attempt is botched and instead of the missing crewmember, Jarek comes back to the ship with Mei.

Mei and Jarek's initial encounter is based on a misunderstanding, but they both need the other for something. Neither admits to their true identities at first. Jarek needs Mei's assistance in finding his friend and Mei needs Jarek to take her home so she can alert her family with the important information she has come across. Mei and Jarek also desire each other and though each tries to fight the attraction, eventually they have to give in.

Jarek wants to make Mei his mate, and have her sail around with him forever. Mei, however, she still plans to go through with her duties to marry Prince Lok. When Jarek returns Mei home and meets her family, she learns the truth of what fate has in her future.

The Pirate Prince rocked. Mei and Jarek worked well together, as a couple and as rescuers. They were steamy hot in one scene, and calm and collected in the next. I was glad that Mei in the end realized that her fate was with Jarek. Jarek's family was comical at the end of the book, the polar opposite of Mei's, which made for a sweet ending.

The Pirate Prince was the first book in the Lords of the Var series that I have read, but I'll definitely be reading the previous stories.

The whole story was ruined for me because of her.

This review is from: The Pirate Prince (Lords of the Var, 5) (Paperback)
The Pirate Prince (Lords of the Var, 5)

Rick, from the previous book, from the crew of Sam's ship, which is now combined with Prince Jarek's crew has been kidnapped. Prince Jarek and his crew land on another planet that is quite like the Asian geography of Earth.

Princess Mei has been told of her fate. However this fate that has been told is not the fate that she thinks it is. She is in very need of adventure and takes off with Prince Jarek and his crew by force yet by willingness.

Due to some damage to the ship, they float in space for a while and of course the princess and prince get to know each other. He expects the princess to be hard to get but she quickly gives in.

It is quite exciting to read as to what this exquisite romance as you will see it as well.
