Adventures of Starchaser & Moonjumper,
By
This review is from: The Pirates! In An Adventure With Napoleon (Hardcover)
The Pirate Captain and his crew of pirates head into their latest adventure. After once again failing to claim a top prize at the Annual Pirate of the Year Awards, despite clearly having been able to win the swimsuit competition had there been one, the Pirate Captain is crestfallen and buys some island property from Black Bellamy. Thusly our merry crew of cutthroats head off to St Helena in order to take up beekeeping and reluctantly retire from pirating. As the Pirate Captain becomes the most famous resident of St Helena, there's a knock on the governor's door and he signs off for the delivery of a peculiar short French general that instantly becomes the new most famous resident. The Pirate Captain and Napoleon face off for popularity and an upcoming election.
Another humorous entry into the Pirates! Adventures. Who will win the elecetion? Should there be a vote for most luxurious beard? Why is Genghis Khan wearing a cowboy hat? Will the pirate that wears red stop being sarcastic? And who are Starchaser and Moonjumper? Have we been missing out on The Ponies! Adventures? Who does Gideon Defoe dedicate this book too if not Sophia? Find out for yourself with this fourth release for the Pirates! Light adventure and double the comedy, Gideon Defoe as another good entry in his failed attempts to win over Sophia. Well worth the price and will take only a few humorous hours to read.

I had to order this latest pirate book from the UK, unfortunately, but as with all the other pirate books by Defoe, it was well worth the trouble because it was hilarious! I howled with laughter the whole way through.
I am a huge fan of his pirate series - Defoe's writing reminds me of Dave Barry's - and I love how over the top silly and unexpected each book has been. If you have liked the style in each of the other three Pirates! books, you'll love this as well.

And how much do you love all the ham references? Have you ever read a book that refers to ham so many times (discounting of course books about cooking ham, ham preparation, etc.)?
