This bright and cheery book about pirates is hilarious. Bright and cheery describes a pirate's life? Yes, as you read how pirates work, if they have pets, and what they dream about plus the answer to many more questions you haven't thought of before. The illustrations are full of life and the rhyming descriptions are a lot of fun. "Do Pirates Have Birthdays? Of course they do--with presents and games and lots of soda pop. The cook makes a cake with doubloons inside and a skull-and-bones on top." Of course the cake is bright pink with a happy skull and bones on top. In the background pirates play pin-the-tail-on-the-whale and eat ice cream by the scoopful. Loads of fun!

What a great book! My 2 1/2 year old son loves the rhyming text, the fun pictures, and was particularly interested in what pirates dream of! Of course, parents must put on their salty drawl to make the book even more fun, Matey! A great addition to a child's book collection.

I am a mother of two boys ages 3 and 4. We like this book. It has cute pictures and the rhyming is fun. It is a book full of questions and then answers the questions in ryhme. Silly and fun.

Just loved this book, it was silly and thoroughly enjoyed by our 4 year old. He was quite amuzed at the ending!

This book is the perfect fun read for your pre-schooler age 5 and under who is curious about pirates and you want to keep it light. Plus it's a quick read when you're looking for something short. My only caution is if your child repeats lines from books-- beware of "surrender cowardly scum!"

This book is great. I got it for my son's 3rd birthday since he thinks he actually is a pirate! On his actual birthday, I read this to his pre-school class and they loved it. It does have some language that I would be careful with, make sure they know not to repeat it...but I think they get it. They talk about pirates having jolly fights and they are "fighting" with mops and smiles on their faces. I actually enjoy it too and even my almost 5 year old who is extremely girlie seems to enjoy it too.

This is a funny book. I got it for my son when he was 5 and he still loves it at 8 years old. This is a great book!

Of all the pirate books out there this is by far the funniest one. Short questions top each page (Do pirates take baths?) and brief but funny explanations follow. Be sure to examine the illustrations-some of the book's funniest moments are wordless. This is a book you and your children will enjoy equally, and will definitly read many times over.

This is a snappy little book because of the rhyming style. My grandson
like it and enjoyed the illustrations which are large and colorful.

I bought this book during my 4 year old's "Pirate Phase" and it's turned into a nightly classic. We love the rhymes and the silliness. He can just about repeat the book word for word. Highly recommended.
