Book Description

IS THERE PIRATE TREASURE BURIED IN MIDDLEBURG?

According to local legend, Peg Leg the pirate once spent the night at the Bessledorf Hotel, and he may have left treasure buried in Middleburg. Now strange bobbing lights have been sighted late at night on Bessledorf Hill, and mysterious coded messages are turning up all over town. When Bernie Magruder and his sleuthing pals Georgene and Weasel investigate, they discover that someone has been digging holes on the hill. Could the old story be true?

By the time the great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson of Peg Leg shows up at the Bessledorf Hotel with a map and an eye for Bernie's sister Delores, pirate mania has filled the town with eager treasure hunters, and Bernie and his pals find themselves in the middle of a mystery -- with a lot more than buried treasure at stake.

5.0 out of 5 stars A FUN, EXCITING MYSTERY ADVENTURE!!!, March 16, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Pirates Treasure (Paperback)
My husband read this book to our 6 year old son who LOVED every single detail about this story! This story revolves around the question: Is the legendary Peg Leg's treasure buried somewhere on Bessledorf Hill? In Naylor's typical humorous, engaging style, the lead character, Bernie, attempts to solve the mystery, and his colorful family characters add sparkle to the story. If I explain the story too much it will spoil it for others, so I will say that at times our whole family was rolling with laughter at the antics, and the mystery part of the story kept everyone guessing until the very end. This is really a great book!
