Editorial Reviews

BLACK WATER RISING is back with the follow up to their critically acclaimed self-titled debut. 'Pissed And Driven' represents what many would describe as another honest, barebones, no frills rock album. 'The recipe is the same as the first. I didn't deviate from what I believe BLACK WATER RISING music to be, I didn't set out to grow or mature', says frontman Rob Traynor. He continues, 'I feel this new album is not much of a departure from the first, and I believe that's a good thing. Besides, I don't think fans would want it any other way. I'm still writing from the same place I was writing from before, I'm still the same guy...for better or for worse.'
Invigorated and eager to capitalize on the success of their debut album, the band's new material promises to be riff heavy and proudly anchored in the foundations of traditional hard rock and metal song writing with hooks and catchy choruses to pull you in. New songs like 'Show No Mercy', 'Pissed And Driven', 'Last Man Standing' and 'Fire It Up' combine the band's love of Thin Lizzy and Judas Priest with the sonic stomp of Black Label Society, all while retaining a musical identity of their own.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is REAL rock n roll!! August 13, 2013
Format:Audio CD
Forget the crap you hear on the radio, and check this band out. "Fire it Up", "Broken Man", and the title track will kick your ass. Great vocals, blistering guitar solos, and pounding rhythms are what make this album one of the best of 2013. Buy it!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Rocker September 27, 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I was eagerly waiting for this one following the excellent debut album and it was sure worth the wait. A solid album with all the attitude & energy you would expect from BWR. I'm not one for selecting favourite tracks, suffice to say you will not be disappoint be it an existing Fan or checking them out for the first time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, solid rock September 26, 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This album took a while to come out and the only thing I'm not a big fan of is the title and the album cover; but that's a personal thing.

From start to finish this album just keeps rocking. It's not metal, it's just groove-filled heavy rock.

There's a lot of bands doing something similar to this style, but the execution here is excellent.

Without wanting to insult anyone, I'd suggest that if you're a fan of (say) Black Stone Cherry's first or second album, this might be worth a listen.

I've been a fan of this band for a long time. I loved the first album and saw them live a bunch of times. I was eagerly awaiting the release of this album and it didn't disappoint. All of the songs are great. I think Rob writes great lyrics and melody's. Mike's an amazing drummer with an incredible sense of feel and groove. Oddie adds the perfect balance of low end on bass and Dennis plays some killer leads. I bought the vinyl and the CD. I highly recommend this album if you are into hard rock with great riffs and melody with actual singing.

5.0 out of 5 stars BWR BRINGS IT AGAIN October 5, 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
in a word: Eargasm. BWR brings riffs and vocals that have gone virtually untouched in way too many years. this beats any of the crap on the radio hands down. but, that's not really saying much is it? so, as i am incapable of accurately describing how exquisitely phenomenal this band really is, just buy this album AND their first one, crank it up and enjoy thoroughly. you won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Groovin Hard Rock!!!! September 26, 2013
By BWR Fan
Format:Audio CD
What a great album full of flavor and rifftastic moments. Some of my favorite standout tracks are "Dance With The Devil", "Pissed and Driven" and "Broken Man". Every track has it's own groove to it and really fits nice with the collection of songs on the album. If you like hard rock with great vocals, killer bottom end, and groove groove groove that's what this band is. Riffs are darker, and grittier and bite you in the ass. "Hell Bent" is a great bonus track. As well as the lead work in "Fire It Up" is killer. Grab this nice piece of ear candy for all you hard rockers out there!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Their first CD is much better
Excited when it arrived. Disappointed to say the least after listening to it. Their first CD appealed to us so much more.

Since introduced to BWR, I thought that 1st album would be in the top 100 all-time best albums. I also thought it would be hard to do a 2nd album as good. Its yes and no. Read more
