Excellent Collection of Otherwise Hard-to-Find Material,

The New Bomb Turks rivaled only black market Misfits 45's with their barrage of 7-inch's and EP's released in the 90's. This is a collection of B-sides, alternate versions, and compilation tracks spanning from the band's beginning through their first two major releases, "Destroy-Oh-Boy" (1993) and "Drunk on C*ck" (1994). See "Switchblade Tongues & Butterknife Brains" and "Big Combo" for later collections.
Most of the songs mesh well and are fast and punchy like those on the "Drunk on..." EP. Included is Spinnin' Clock, which was the highlight of the "Destroy..." LP, but was switched out for the annoying and slow Cryin' in the Beer of a Drunk Man song on re-releases. There is one downside, however. Most anyone who kept up with the onslaught of Turks vinyl will notice the absence of the classic disco-rock Devil Dogs covers.

What 1990's punk rock is and should be.,

A compilation of many of the 'Turks singles, Pissin' Out The Poison is a must for any fan of REAL rock 'n roll. The songs barrel out of your speakers and crush you beneath their overpowering force. Faster than the Ramones, harder than AC/DC and more out of control than Iggy, yet with a connection to Rolling Stones style basic rock 'n roll. The 'Turks have properly reclaimed hardcore punk from heavy metal/thrash to its rightful home in the garage.

The New Bomb Turks were quite simply the best American Punk Rock Band of the 1990s. Heck, they may prove to be the last great punk band ever. These bunch of boys out of Columbus, Ohio made amazing noise that drew influences from all over the place. When you hear this collection you get hints of everything from the Stones to the Stooges, and all of it filtered through 100% pure American Punk. This is a collection of singles and B Sides and to me, is the best of their many fantastic albums (you also need all of them, too). I bought it on vinyl at a NBT show years ago and have worn it so thin that I needed to buy the CD. For real, if you are a fan of hard, fast, smart rock and roll, you need to get this album, like, yesterday.

The New Bomb Turks were one of the best rock 'n' roll bands of all time (if you doubt me, listen to "Destroy-Oh-Boy!!" for definitive proof).
This comp gathers a bunch of non-album stuff and gives it to you on one disc. If you already know the Turks, you'll love this, and if not, imagine what the early Hives would sound like fronted by Iggy Pop only they're better, with more hardcore influence, and a twist of roots rock. Its garage-punk at its finest, and fans will want these tracks. For newbies, check out "Destroy-Oh-Boy!!" as it is their finest moment, or my second favorite "Scared Straight." The rest of their albums are all quite good too, the New Bomb Turks were a wonderfully consistent band.
