As another reviewer pointed out, this book does not cover the more modern Isoceles and Weaver stances, and it spends 1/3 of the book talking about competetive shooting (which was of no interest to me). However, I couldn't find any other book that teaches you how to shoot. I recommend an instructor-led class for beginners, but this is a good suppliment for intermediate shooters who want to get better. It has a few flaws but I probably would have given it 3.5 stars for the information on marksmanship that I was looking for.
But note that the book is very technical - they break down things into a very structured system and have appendecies on how nerve and muscle fibers work, etc. And a chapter on diet and excercise for the competetive shooter. If you don't like this kind of detail this book may not be for you. After seeing nothing but "combat handgun" and "self-defense" books I was really searching for a book on "how to shoot". The sections on stance, sight alignment, grip, and breathing were the best in my opinion.

I have read many books about pistol shooting, and this manual is by far the best. Even if a person does not wish to compete in pistol matches, putting into practice the information provided in this manual will make anyone more proficient when shooting a pistol whether for leisure or for competition. If a new or experienced shooter reads only one book about pistol shooting, this should be the one as it really stresses the basics of pistol shooting.
