Better than smashing them against your forehead,

This review is from: 12oz Can Crusher (Kitchen)
Crushing your cans is a great idea if you are tight on space and far from the recycling center and you go through a lot of canned beverages. And you don't mind cleaning up the whole sticky crusher and surrounding area.
That's a lot of ifs. I see why nobody has bothered to design a good can crusher. This one only squishes them to 1-1/4 inches. That's less than 4 to 1 compaction for a 12 oz. can. I put a block of wood in the bottom so the cans would squish to about 6/10 inch. That's 9:1. However the side arms are very flimsy and started twisting into a useless shape after I crushed about 90 cans. Also, about 5% of the cans fly out of the chamber before the crusher has a chance to do its work.

This can crusher gets heavy daily use & lasts,

Now that Lowe's Hardware and Walmart have discontinued selling aluminum can crushers I have had to search on the internet for a replacement for the Progressive Int'l (Style CC-90) version that is probably the third can crusher I've purchased in about 15 years. My husband is a dedicated beer drinker, like, it's his religion... at least 12 beers a day. The product here offered by CVS Supply is far superior to the Progressive Int'l product we have worn out in two or three years. I have gotten 5 to 8 years of use from the CVS product. Maybe we don't crush cans every day, but you can count on the fact that it's never less than 4392 cans a year for the five-plus years. Our teenager is now away to college, so we don't have soft drink cans added in these days. Very dependable product for the price. Bet it could last longer if we had an indoor location to place it... that's 5-8 years out in the weather! I'm probably going to buy TWO this time. (Maybe in the next decade he'll slow down some?)

Don't wast your time with this piece of junk. The sides stick and if your not lined up exactally right the can shoots out and hits you in the face.
