Monsters, Puberty and Videotape, June 12, 2001
This review is from: Pit [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Sammy Snyder plays Jamie Benjamin, a disturbed 12 year old who has a telepathic teddy bear, monsters in a pit, and a babysitter that puts up with his emerging hormones. Sociopathic and sexually curious, our hero feeds his adversaries to awaiting anthropods in a hole unknown to anyone except him. The monsters are only a sub-plot where that Jamie's deviations are the real focus of the film. His psychological make-up and his simmering male frustration is the real horror in this early 80s better than average monster film. Highly original and quite entertaining, "Pit" discovers the essence of malcontented pre-teen sexual discomfort, and delivers robust comedy as it's ultimate revenge.

One of the worst films ever made, June 28, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Pit [VHS] (VHS Tape)
"The Pit" is probably the worst film I've ever seen. The plot is moronic - the movie apparently tries to make a statement, but it generally comes of as so ridiculous as to be laughable. The film concerns a boy whose teddy bear talks to him and tells him to feed some "tra-la-logs," little goblin-gorilla type creatures, in a pit out in the woods on the edge of town. Guess what they eat? Yes, that's right, this boy is quite a psycho and he pushes/tricks several people into the pit. This movie has absolutely no entertainment value unless you're into camp (as am I). In that case, it's highly recommended. On the upside, the performances are actually pretty decent and the ending is great.
