I got this to fix my PS3 thinking that it would at least last long enough to do the job.... WRONG! Not only did the thing over heat, the metal part of it started to come loose. Upon further inspection, there was a loose screw rattling around on the inside. The thing over heated and shut down within 2 minutes and smoked for about 15 minutes. This thing is a hazard! Do not purchase! Hopefully, I will be fully refunded.

The product is a true made in China piece of crap. It has a really loud and annoying fan. First one overheated and died within minutes.

this heat gun was so cheap I could not believe it. it has worked 20 times already without fail, I figure another year and it will have paid for itself. very well made for being so cheap. was expecting less than I got.

Very good for the price I paid. The green plastic housing does not look very rugged a couple bad falls and it might need duct tape to keep it together but that's ok I will just have to be careful not to drop it. It heats up almost instantly when it is switched on. I actually use it to bend and shape PVC pipe. I only used it three times so far and for about ten minutes each time so I cant really say i stress test it as yet. My only concern is that it smokes a bit after switching off the one I used to use before never did this so I am thinking this happens because it is new and needs breaking in

I bought this product to repair my Yellow Light of Death on my PS3. I figured go cheap just in case heating the motherboard didn't work. To my surprise this heating gun worked great on my very first try! The system is up and running and seems to be working totally fine! Highly recommended!

My first heat gun died after three days. I recall hearing something rattling upon my initial usage. Eventually a piece of metal fell out & it died. The seller was good enough to replace it & not charge me extra. The seller is clearly not at fault & they handled things well. The second gun arrived within a few days & also died. This time it smoked & I actually saw flames inside. Total uses, on both heat guns, was a mere five times & for short intervals. I tried to find the company name on it & write them, but they managed to hide their name. Only a model number CHIGH0012 & Made in China appears. If anyone else has a company name I'd be interested in knowing it. Next time I'd pay a little more for something better made. Unless I just got a bad batch, cheap equals crap in this case.

Well, while i was out shopping for a replacement heat gun, i saw this thing and figured i'd point out why i'm shopping for a new heat gun.

This green cheapie is identical to what i've been using for the past few years, and as others have pointed out, it's conspicuously cheap. The blower is poorly fit and balanced and the motor has hilariously sloppy bearings, making the thing sound like it's minutes from flying apart. That said, mine never actually had a motor issue.

On the other hand, the switch broke once (i had a spare) and the element fused (melted through in a spot) three times so far. The first couple times i was able to patch it, but i can understand other users' reluctance to attempt a delicate and ultimately temporary repair of the sort. The last time, it fused at the termination and dumped 120v mains across the 17v blower motor, which promptly wound up like a jet turbine in a nice blue corona.

I'm surprised i was able to stretch a few years of regular use out of it, but a normal user shouldn't and wouldn't have the patience to fix something like a $12 heat gun. Get something better.

GOOD PRODUCT FORTHE PRICE! i WOULD RECOMMEND IT. ITS NOT A HIGH QUALITY ITEM BUT I REPAIRED MY PS3 WITH IT.

I have never had this gun quit on me and I've been using on and off for the better part of a year. It feels a little cheap and I wish I had more control over the temperature it puts out is a little hot for what I need (I'm using it to bake parts polymer clay projects) but it's completely worth what you pay.
