A Great Talent,

Why doesn't anyone know about Kathleen? I can play this CD over and over and never get tired. "Symphony", "Wish We'd Never Met" and "Old Familiar" to name just a few are incredible songs. Her voice is all at once like a young girl, then edgy, then soulful. Get this CD and you will never stop listening to it. I discovered her by a fluke on a movie trailer. This CD is folk, rock, ballad, you name it. I LOVE KATHLEEN AND SO DOES EVERYONE WHO HAS HEARD HER.

Great effort from a relatively unkown singer/songwriter. Kathleen is better known for her acting career including ER. Terrific compilation of songs including "Wish we never met," the most melancholy song in memory

LOVE this Singer,

I heard "Wish We Never Met" on the radio one day and went right out and found this CD...the whole disc is amazing. Very bluesy, throaty songs -- in the same category as Sheryl Crow. You can see her in all sorts of recent movies such as Nurse Betty (the best friend of Betty)and Pay It Forward (the AA sponsor). I heard she has a new CD called "Shiva" but I can't find it anywhere...if anyone knows where to get this, please post a review!

Oddly enough, My wife and I met Kathleen in a natural childbirth class, She invited us to see her perform at a nightclub and we were hooked!
We listened to this CD over and over, never tired of it. I fully expected her to rise to the top and she deserves to. This music STILL ranks as some of my favorite to listen to. I highly recommend this CD and no it's not because we met her, we never saw her again so it's not so much personal, it's just GREAT music! She's an amazing talent!

I bought this cd over a year ago. I gave it a quick listen but it didn't jump at me right away. I must have really been into something else at the time because I gave Kathleen Wilhoite another listen last week and I can't stop playing it. It's all I'm listening to right now. I was so excited about it that I thought I'd put in a good plug for the cd here. I had no idea she was also an actress. I'm glad I didn't know that ahead of time so that I could listen unbiased. I love the whole cd, esp. Dumb 'Ol Girl and Suck the Joy. This cd is must. You won't regret getting it!

Kathleen Wilhoite, "Pitch Like A Girl", I love it!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Pitch Like a Girl (Audio CD)
Kathleen Wilhoite is one of the best new artists I've heard in years! The combination of great story telling lyrics and beautifully written music makes her cd easy to listen to over and over. Kathleen performed some of her new songs in St. Paul, Minnestoa in February and gave a great performance. Her voice was as "real" and enchanting to listen to in person as it is on her album. I would highly recomend her cd to everyone! If you have ever been in a relationship that left you with low self esteem and with an empty bank account, this one is for you! In three words...I love it!

Terrific performance of songs that both surprise and delight,

Kathleen Wilhoite not only sings and plays several instruments beautifully on her first CD, she wrote the words and music as well. I was first interested in this disk because of her acting career (ER, Mad About You, L.A. Law, The Edge, Angel Heart, The Color of Night, Lorenzo's Oil) but it became obvious to me that here was a complete surprise. Instead of the usual Hollywood "I am an actress, hear me sing" effort, her songs are wonderful, thoughtful works that start in one direction and by the end take the listener to a completely different and unexpected place. One wonders what life experiences she has drawn on to fuel these wry, insightful glimpses into her (and our) very soul(s). I look forward to her next effort and highly recommend this one.

Mature Love Songs,
By
This review is from: Pitch Like a Girl (Audio CD)
I used to be a huge fan of the ABC Saturday morning cartoon "Pepper Ann", on which Kathleen Wilhoite voiced the main character. When I found out that she also had albums out, I started hunting her music down.
To get right to the point, Pitch Like a Girl is amazing. It is comprised mostly of love songs, but they aren't of the standard, sugary, "I loved you, lost you, and am now crying in my pillow" variety. Instead, Wilhoite delivers mature music that reaches down inside you and touch places that are common in all who have loved and lost, but aren't often directly addressed in music. Each song paints a clear picture, whether or not the listener has experienced the same thing in his or her life. "Stop Yelling" and "Pick Up Where You Left Off" are my personal favorites off the album, but I'm also constantly impressed by the rest of the tracks. "Look But Don't Touch", a song about those "bad boys" we all know and love even though we shouldn't, always captures my attention. The melancholy "Old Familiar", the troubled "Olivia Says" and "Yard Sale", the utterly true "Symphony"...all are worthy of listening to over and over. This is not an album that ever feels stale. Overall, Wilhoite gives an impressive performance. Her songs are realistic, unassuming, and deliver a serious amount of emotion with subtlety. I highly recommend this CD!

What a debut!,
This review is from: Pitch Like a Girl (Audio CD)
Kathleen Wilhoite is one of those rare people who not only act incredibly well (she was Chloe, Susan's sister, in 'ER') but also sing and not make a complete botch-up of it. I originally heard of Kathleen Wilhoite when 'Wish We'd Never Met' was used in an episode of 'Buffy' called 'Consequences'. If you liked that song then you will no doubt love this album. The tracks here are a real good mix, with Kathleen neither leaning towards one style of the other. Each song is completely individual and rather than spouting out the same old love songs, any tracks on here are easily related to. Of the faster tracks, probably 'Suck The Joy' is the best, with 'Old Familiar' being a personal favourite of the slower songs. This is not only an artist that defies conventions but also one that makes completely new ones for herself. 'Pitch Like A Girl' is a valuable addition to anyone's record collection, worth any amount of hunting for. It's simply magnificent.

This CD is filled with many songs that hit close to the heart. Kathleen happens to be a singer who can also act. Her new CD Shiva has a bluesier edge but the songs have the same familiar feel to them also. You can get Shiva at v2music.com.
