Product Description
Anyone who has a great idea for a movie or a TV show shouldn't miss reading this book. Two successful movie and TV producers provide the reader with the tools he needs to create, develop and sell ideas to Hollywood. Learn: What makes an idea a good one. • How to find or create a good idea. • How to develop a "high concept". • What ideas should be avoided. • What goes into a good pitch. • How long a pitch should be. • How to find the right people to pitch. • What to say when you contact them. • How to protect your idea. • How to "package" an idea with writers and actors. • Necessary writing treatments. • When it is better to have a screenplay. • How pitching a movie differs from pitching a TV show.

About the Author
Successful movie and TV producers Jonathan Koch (Good Samaratin) and Robert Kosberg (12 Monkeys) are known as the "Kings of Pitch." Together they have sold over 70 films and television shows. And currently have more than 30 projects in development at major studios, including projects with Tom Cruise, Jim Carrey, Meg Ryan, Adam Sandler, Barbara Streisand, and Drew Barrymore.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Worth It - The title should be changed. , April 27, 2005
This book has a lot of information on concepts and treatments. It does not go into the details of the technique of a pitch. It is very encouraging, but with reagrds to the actual pitch they wrote,"the energy of a pitch can't be written" or something to that effect. I would have appreciated an outline or something. They provide general info like be on time, make it brief, etc... Wow, insightful!

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST FOR WOULD-BE FILMMAKERS, May 29, 2004
By "girliewriter" (Los Angeles, CA United States) - See all my reviews
I've worked in the entertainment industry for many years and still panic each time I go into a pitch meeting! Staying calm, organizing my thoughts, conveying my excitement about the project, etc... is difficult when combating nerves. This book breaks down the pitch process into manageable stages: finding an idea, writing a well-structured treatment, making phone calls to the right people, booking meetings, pitching the idea, and even negotiating payment and/or credit. Great investment for ten bucks!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Pitch, May 29, 2004
By "docwatcher" (austin, tx United States) - See all my reviews
An easy (and entertaining!) read. This book explains step-by-step how to contact production companies and studios, make appointments, and sell TV and movie ideas. I don't live in LA or New York. It's encouraging to know that I don't have to.
