5.0 out of 5 stars Pitfall Harry Rocks!!!!, February 28, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Pitfall: The Lost Expedition (Video Game)
This is a Action/Adventure game with a Platforming twist. You play the game as Pitfall Harry, an explorer whose plane crashed in a Peruvian jungle. You must use your knowledge, skill, and puzzle-solving abilities to search for vast treasures, learn advanced moves, and free your adventurer buddies. This game rocks!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great game with one major flaw., May 3, 2010

= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Pitfall: The Lost Expedition (Video Game)
I will mention the many positives after talking about the major negative. I really like this game despite several irritations. The scripting and humor are roll-your-eyes bad. And the LIGHTING! That's the major flaw I mentioned, and so did another reviewer. In particular, there is one section where you have to jump through a dark cave with a torch and spin-kick stalactites then land on their stumps. The design of the game is SO dark that you can't even see the stalactites with or without the torch. The internet is full of similar complaints. (Disclaimer: I'm playing this game in gamecube mode on the Wii, don't know if the original hardware does this or not). After literally hours of frustrating death, I put it down. Yesterday I tried darkening my TV picture into complete mud, and THEN I could finally see the ghosted outlines of where I was supposed to be jumping. I cleared the stage and am progressing forward again.
The positives: This game looks graphically awesome. There are lots of sections where you can stop and look out over huge vistas of Amazon landscape that they bothered to color in and make look fantastic. The colors and detail, and soundtrack, are all fantastic. I really got sucked into this game and am excited to get it finished now. There aren't enough Inca themed games IMO. Definitely grab this game, now that you can in the $5 range. I really love it. Just remember the lighting trick when you get stuck.
