5.0 out of 5 stars Pitfall Harry Rocks!!!!
This is a Action/Adventure game with a Platforming twist. You play the game as Pitfall Harry, an explorer whose plane crashed in a Peruvian jungle. You must use your knowledge, skill, and puzzle-solving abilities to search for vast treasures, learn advanced moves, and free your adventurer buddies. This game rocks!

3.0 out of 5 stars For Kids or Not?
Good game. Not a great game. More than once while playing this game I was reminded of the fact that though this is pretty fun, it would be more fun if Laura Croft was doing it. I know, I know. Even though Laura's games and movies have been terrible, she is still like n old girlfriend you wouldn't mind seeing a picture of from time to time. Pitfall, you'll never...

4.0 out of 5 stars Great game with one major flaw., May 3, 2010

= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Pitfall: The Lost Expedition (Video Game)
I will mention the many positives after talking about the major negative. I really like this game despite several irritations. The scripting and humor are roll-your-eyes bad. And the LIGHTING! That's the major flaw I mentioned, and so did another reviewer. In particular, there is one section where you have to jump through a dark cave with a torch and spin-kick stalactites then land on their stumps. The design of the game is SO dark that you can't even see the stalactites with or without the torch. The internet is full of similar complaints. (Disclaimer: I'm playing this game in gamecube mode on the Wii, don't know if the original hardware does this or not). After literally hours of frustrating death, I put it down. Yesterday I tried darkening my TV picture into complete mud, and THEN I could finally see the ghosted outlines of where I was supposed to be jumping. I cleared the stage and am progressing forward again.
The positives: This game looks graphically awesome. There are lots of sections where you can stop and look out over huge vistas of Amazon landscape that they bothered to color in and make look fantastic. The colors and detail, and soundtrack, are all fantastic. I really got sucked into this game and am excited to get it finished now. There aren't enough Inca themed games IMO. Definitely grab this game, now that you can in the $5 range. I really love it. Just remember the lighting trick when you get stuck.

5.0 out of 5 stars Addicting but so much fun!, November 16, 2009

My dad owns this game. I'm not much of a gammer but once I started playing this game I was ATTACHED! You need some patience to play this game. Cause some levels, at least to me, were pretty difficult. I'd play this game for HOURS. It took me about a month playing this. Only because I was in the middle of my senior year playing this. This game is worth it! Price here on Amazon is ridiculous though. Love the game, you will love it.

I love swinging on vines and running through the jungle. Seeing all the cool animals is great! The game is sooo fun, but I wish I knew how to play the old pitfall on the game.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid platformer, May 10, 2004
This review is from: Pitfall: The Lost Expedition (Video Game)
We have a problem. We expect too much out of games. We expect every new platformer to somehow revolutionize the genre. This is why Pitfall has received little acclaim; it tries nothing new. And you know what? That's okay. Sometimes a simple romp in the jungle can bring hours of fun, which is exactly what you'll get if you just like straight platform action without having to deal with level objectives and collect-a-thons and "clever" takes which ultimately go bad. Pitfall stays true to its roots, packs a lot of charm, and is fun to the very end. Unfortunately, the end is sooner than I would like. This shortness, and a few bugs in the game, cause me to knock a star out, but I still highly recommend Pitfall as a weekend rental to adventure/platform fans.

Pitfall, you'll never really care to bring out the photo of again. The whole experience, though enjoyable is kind of forgettable. Mario does it better, Spyro does it worse. Mario is cute and fun as is his supporting cast, and his games are incredibly creative and fun. Spyro is cute and his supporting cast is not. Spyro's games are not too fun though. Pitfall falls between these two. Pitfall tries to be cute and funny - it isn't. Pitfall tries to be fun and exciting - sometimes it is. Because of all the jumping and balancing little kids will think this is kind of fun to watch but impossible to play.

Bottom line: Is it fun. It's ok; A decent waist of time, which is exactly what it feels like through and through. Will I keep it? There are better platformers. Is it for kids? It is so simplistic it should be, but there is too much exact jumping for the little ones.
