5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing fun with a retro character
While the gameplay may not be the most ground breaking, the fun factor behind this game is great. The cartoonish atmosphere and the characters will make kids and adults alike smile throughout the game. Whether it's Harry's wit, the damsels in distress, the talking animals or the "oooga booga" natives, the humor and the story work well together, as well as keep...

2.0 out of 5 stars Mindless is right
I got this game brand new for $10 where new games usually sell for around $30 to $50, and that should give you a clue. Although it's a very fun game, it can get a bit frustrating both for kids and adults. The controls are not consistent and Pitfall Harry suffers from what I call "grease on the floor" syndrome - where the character seems to be slipping on the floor all the...

The cartoonish atmosphere and the characters will make kids and adults alike smile throughout the game. Whether it's Harry's wit, the damsels in distress, the talking animals or the "oooga booga" natives, the humor and the story work well together, as well as keep challenging and fun gameplay through 50 levels.

If you are looking for a technology reveloution, look elsewhere. If you are looking to have mindless entertaining fun, this is your game. You will find yourself smiling throughout.

Works perfectly with xBox.... Great for the youngsters but for the older fan you may want to go with the Uncharted series.

I love Pitfall! I used to play it when I was younger on the computer and I was excited to see it for XBOX. It was harder than I thought and different (slightly) than the computer version, but overall great!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pitfall Harry is the man, February 3, 2004
This review is from: Pitfall: The Lost Expedition (Video Game)
I got a chance to play through a demo of this game and really enjoyed it. I grew up playing the original Pitfall on the Atari 2600 and even the mediocre Sega Genesis version, but this new developer (Edge of Reality) really "gets" the game. Pitfall does not take itself too seriously, but it really is a seriously good action/platformer game. You'll have fun, and so will your kids. It's a title the whole family can sit down and play. Go ahead, take it for a swing. :-)

I got this game brand new for $10 where new games usually sell for around $30 to $50, and that should give you a clue. Although it's a very fun game, it can get a bit frustrating both for kids and adults. The controls are not consistent and Pitfall Harry suffers from what I call "grease on the floor" syndrome - where the character seems to be slipping on the floor all the time. Also, as was stated previously, the special powers Harry picks up along the way don't always work the first time. The major problem (especially for someone not familiar with Pitfall) is that the character of Harry is not developed sufficiently so that you actually care about him. After a few failed attempts, you tend to throw up your hands and say, "So what?"

Try Psychonauts. Now that's an excellent platformer game.
