4.0 out of 5 stars pitfall
The game is alot of fun but the only thing wrong with the game is that the game doesn't save so if you advance to a another level and you get tired of playing the game and turn your gameboy off it won't save and when you turn the gameboy back on when you want to plat it , you'll start at the very beginning

There will be two things that you will notice immediately...1) It is a very dark game. Not in the sense of genre, but in the sense of literal darkness. The game is very hard to see. And 2)there are NO saves or passwords.

To solve both of these problems you will need a game light and some cheat codes. Once you overcome these two obsticles, you will start to enjoy the game. One thing about using the cheat to get to different levels is that the area of the screen which shows you how many points you have accumulated will have its place taken by coordinate numbers. These numbers were probably used to debug the game by the programmers. So you will not have a total score when playing with the level cheat. That's really too bad because you won't know just how well you did on each level.

As you play throught the levels, you will encounter some pretty fun gameplay. The levels are thought out well and some of the levels are pretty challenging. If you do not have good eye/hand coordination, you probably should pass on this game as you will really need to time your moves well.
There are "secret" levels that you will unlock and it will take you a while to understand how to defeat some of the bosses, but all in all, I would say this is a pretty fun game. One word of caution. If you already have a penchant against "platform" type games, you should steer away from this game as only those who like this sort of gameplay will enjoy it.

3.0 out of 5 stars You'd better buy another launch title..., June 6, 2001

Well, if someone is reading this, that person must be wondering which lauch title to pick. I had the opportunity to try this game via my friend's gameboy advance, and I was quite disappointed. First of all, the visibility is bad. The screen and graphics are way to dark so we end up dying just because we didn't see an enemy who blended in the background. And, there's no saving feature, not even password so you must finish the game in one sitting. Anyway, this game wasn't so great on the SNES, so why bother?

3.0 out of 5 stars Needs a SAVE feature!!, June 30, 2001

I bought this game because I used to have the OLD Atari version, and wanted to see how they could update it. The gameplay itself is pretty fun, but visibility is poor, especially in the third level mineshafts. Also, every time I turn on the darn thing, I have to start over from the beginning. That gets old really fast. Other than that, the graphics are great, and it's not difficult to play...but then again, I keep playing the same levels over and over and over...

3.0 out of 5 stars Pitfall review, February 9, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure (Video Game)
I have this game for the pc. The controls are fantastic, the levels are fun, the action is intense, the sound effects, and the music are fantastic.
But now that this game has been brought to the GBA, the controls are sketchy, the wonderful level music has been eliminated, and the sound effects are just plain annoying. The extra features that were in the pc game (such as the bonus mini-games and the Atari 2600 edition--which was great) aren't there. This game, somehow maintains it's addictive quality. BUt if I were you, I'd rent it first.

3.0 out of 5 stars Little harder than I was looking for in a GBA game, January 7, 2002
This review is from: Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure (Video Game)
If I was playing this on N64 or XBox or PS2 or something this game would be great. Don't get me wrong, it is a very good game - it is just a little harder than I was looking for in a GBA game. Usually you play (or at least I do) a Game Boy Advance game because you are looking for some quick fun entertainment during lunch or during work when no one is looking. This game takes more time than I can devote to it usually. The graphics are outstanding the the game play is very very good. I just have a hard time at the end of the levels when you have to kill whatever is trying to eat you. That is where I don't have the patience to continue. Either that - or I just suck at it. It is a very well done game and worth playing, especially if you have more skills than I do. Just wish there was a little more screen to see what you are doing.

4.0 out of 5 stars This is an awesome game!, July 5, 2002
This review is from: Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure (Video Game)
Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure was good as a P.C version, and now, with it's arrival on GBA, it's even better, with sharper picture, clearer sound and impressive quality. The aim is to take Harry Jr. through the mayan jungles, forests, mines, temples and tooms, to find treasures, avoid crocodiles, tigers and other such nasties, and basically try to stay alive. It's a bit too difficult on some levels (Yaxchilan Lagoon and Toom of Palenque), but overall, it's good fun, with some added surprises and good-natured action. Kill those monkeys! Ha ha ha ha!

This is an okay game because I bought it here online for [$]. If I paid full price for it, then I would be a little upset. It does has it's flaws and can very frustrating at times.

It is kind of hard, but it has good graphics. The screen is a little dark but it is worthit to buy this game. If you are buying this game for your self, you should buy it, but if you are buying it for a gift you should rather get something else.

5.0 out of 5 stars No Save Feature? That Won't Matter Anymore. Just read below!, June 20, 2001
This review is from: Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure (Video Game)
Hey guys!!! Even though there is no save feature for Earthworm Jim, I found secret codes for level select!!! Here it is right below!

Master code: Press L, Select, A, Select, R, A, L, Select at the title screen to enable cheat mode.

Level select: Enable the "Master code", then press L or R to select a level. Press Left to highlight "Start" to begin game play at the selected level.

It's that simple. This would get so many more people to buy the game. This code really does work!!! 100% guaranteed by Nintendo™. I tried out the code and it worked fine, every level. Just like a password and you can also access the rest of the levels. I hope this review helped you guys out. It sure helped me!!!
