The new and updated Pitfall,

I've been a fan of Pitfall since I was a young kid when I used to play the original Pitfall on the Atari 2600 all the time. "Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure" is a great update to the Activision classic. You take Pitfall Harry on a journey through many different levels ranging from a waterfall level to a runaway mine cart level, and many others such as a lost ruins level. Pitfall Harry is on a mission to save his dad (the one that was in the original Pitfall), and it's your mission to get him there. This game has some of the best graphics for the Super Nintendo and you'll see that throughout the game. It has good controls, the sound and music couldn't have been done any better, and it's a lot of fun. Pitfall Harry has many weapons you can use, including a belt, rocks, and many other powerups that you can find. You can also keep hold of the attack button for a few seconds and make Pitfall Harry use an extra strong attack. At the end of some of the levels there's a boss you have to defeat to get to the next level. While you make your way through the game, you will have to use many tactics to get through the levels, such as using whips to make your way across vines. The enemies are plentiful with snakes, spiders, skeleteons, etc. "Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure" isn't an impossible game to beat, but it does have a good challenge. And once you do beat the game, it's always fun to start from the beginning and play it all over again. To keep the replay value from falling through, you can find the original Atari 2600 version of Pitfall somewhere in the game. Which, for anybody who grew up with the Atari, is a major plus. If you like fun adventure and action games, I definitely recommend getting this one.

Graphics are excellent for a super nintendo game. Challenging at first, since you are unable to save a game if you have quit. But overall, it's pretty good.

i just bought it for snes and it is such a reminder of the mid 90's for me back when i used to play it on my now-stepfather's former-genesis hahah it was so fun back in 96 when i was 4-5 and its just as fun to me today as it was then. it just brings up memories of me trying to time my characters jumps to jump over objects/pits and him swinging a rope or something like that. mannn if you have the money and the system, get THIS game, it truely ROCKS HARRRDDDD!!!!
p.s. for anyone confused by the phrase "now-stepfather's former-genesis", by "now-stepfather" i meant that he is my stepfather of almost 12 years but at the time he was my moms boyfriend and by "former-genesis" i meant that he had a Sega Genesis but he has not had on in about 14 or so years

Remember how revolutionary PItfall was back in 1982? Well, even if you don't remember, let alone live in the times, Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure is a great action game that may please certain fans, depending on whether they were looking for something faithful or not.
You play as Pitfall Harry Jr., who sets out to look for his dad through ancient buildings and jungles. This isn't any Pitfall game, though. It is an action game with throwing small objects (rocks?) and bombs, and whipping your foes as you go find an exit that leads to the next level. This calls for awesome battles with bosses and a solid platforming experience. The first level has you go through a jungle. The enemies here are just animals that you may normally see. You can bounce on spider webs like a trampoline, and you can also swing on vines (like original Pitfall). The boss is a tiger, but it can't be killed easily. You gotta throw some bombs and shoot at it. What's annoying here is how you must jump over its pattern as it dashes across the screen. If you jump too early or late, you'd be knocked down on the ground (Not saying you'd lose all your health that fast). That's one thing to think about this game. There are parts where some things can be difficult to jump over, such as that one giant boulder in a later pyramid level. You have to jump straight over it. There are also some things that you must figure out by toying around with the nearest buttons and switches you find. In the third level, there is a hidden area where you can play the original Pitfall game that was originally released on the Atari 2600! This really adds great appeal to nostalgia fans. The game is emulated perfectly, without any flaws or glitches whatsoever. However, when you get a Game Over, the game takes you back to the room where you found the portal that lets you play it. The graphics in the game are thoroughly detailed and nice. The sounds and music are greatly composed as well. The ending is one of the funniest video game endings ever. As you see Pitfall Harry Jr. find his dad, the game reveals that Pitfall Harry himself is the exact same as how he was in the original Atari 2600 game! Then he says "What took you so long?". Overall, this is a classic you should buy.

well what can i say? this game is in the Pitt's ehehe
you will be swallowed up if you hit the pit and pit out of luck when you do. other wise this game is ol skool and it still rocks and still makes want to snatch the cord out of the controller when you get sunk. so its a classic. |
