5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning Urban Design Project!!, February 23, 2009
This brilliant signs project has proven itself as one of the best artistic releases of the year! I was completely taken by surprise by the personal relations I found in these images. There is a wonderful balance between text and image, while letting the signs speak for themselves. This book is sure to appeal to sign-enthusiasts, architects, designers, and fans of urban typography alike. I definitely recommend this for any creative mind that craves something fresh, new, and exciting!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Bit of Nostalgia, November 4, 2009

I grew up in Pittsburgh so I have an interest in the subject matter. Lots of the signs featured were familiar to me. Photography is well done and from various areas and time periods. Not sure how interesting it would be to someone not familiar with the city but it is still interesting in terms of the photography. I pick this book up occasionally just to remind me of home.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Burgh Signs N'at, May 27, 2009
As a native Pittsburgher who has twice moved away and nostalgically returned, I find this book as comforting as a hot plate of buttery pierogies followed with a Penn Pilsner. Since not a lot changes around here, we have grown up using signs as markers of time and distance. Such as the Blue Flame Restaurant on Rt. 51 on the way to or from Ohiopyle or Fallingwater. Or those that have somehow escaped "modernization" like the CHARM beauty shoppe on West Liberty Avenue in Dormont. Classic Art Deco pink and black loveliness! There are a lot of artsy graphic design books out there on the market, but what makes this one truly unique is the addition of GPS coordinates so that you can track any sign down yourself. Brilliant!
