Supurb Christmas playing,
By A Customer
This review is from: Pittsburgh Symphony Brass: A Christmas Concert (Audio CD)
This group put a show on last winter at a local church in Pittsburgh, and I have to say that it is one of the best sounding brass groups I have listened to. I agree, some of the songs are short, but the quality and talent that goes into the pieces is excellent. I would also recommend Empire Brass Quartet and some of their recordings if you like what you hear on this CD.

If you intend to only have one Christmas Brass album, make sure this is it! Virtuouso playing, clever arrangements (The Twelve Days of Christmas especially)and wonderful acoustics.
Two thumbs up!!

Superb playing from the brass section of one of our finest orchestras. Yes, the tracks are short, but there are 29 of them!

This is a beautiful addition to your Christmas CD collection. We have played for many years the Eastman Band Ensemble brass CD and were so happy to find this one as well. The playing is brilliant, the sound is lush and the arrangements varied. Many of your favorite carols are included and you will find new ones to love. Highly recommend!

We love it! We highly recommend this recording to anyone who is looking for lively yet peaceful instrumental holiday music. Suitable for foreground or background music, on any occasion at the holidays. We even listen to it year-round. The CD came in brand new condition, as advertised.

As the title says. I love Christmas music, I play the trumpet and am passionate about the sound of brass (especially in Christmas music), and it just so happens that I am enamored with the city of Pittsburgh! I bought this album about 1/2 an hour ago and downloaded it through Amazon's digital MP3 store. I am listening to it as I write this review because I want everyone to hear this music! I am planning on seeing this symphony in person as soon as I possibly can, and may be taking my girlfriend on a spontaneous trip to Pittsburgh (5 hour drive for me) to do so!
No, I'm not joking. There are obviously several unique conditions in my love for this music, but if you are looking for a Christmas album to buy, this album is MORE than worth the money!

You can get an idea of the sound by listing to the samples here. Too bad the track listing on the website doesn't include the times. I specifically bought this hoping to find a long version of "Master in this Hall". Fortunately I read the lable before opening the CD, that cut is only 53 seconds! Most of the cuts on this CD are under 2 minutes in length, and several are less than one minute. ("Patapan" is only 42 seconds) You basically get enough music for one verse. OK for background music (at low volume) but I find little use for it otherwise.
