My two and a half year old son is very very interested in all things Toy Story. For Christmas he received a small soft Woody Doll and a talking Buzz Lightyear. Buzz was broken within a week (arms and legs were broken off). Yes, I realize my son is likely too young for it. BUT, even partially dismembered, he is still my son's favorite. The other day, we saw Talking Woody. Well, my son was instantly smitten and so, Woody returned home with us. I like this doll MUCH more than the Buzz, simply in terms of durability. The hat is a real pain to deal with though as it falls off all the time. I'm considering a velcro fix, we'll see. Maybe I'll just hide the hat. Anyway, we've already had to magic marker Woody's boot with my son's name and he walks around with Woody and Buzz proclaiming them, "My best present ever!". He still loves his soft Woody, which we call Cuddle Woody, so he can take this one to bed (along with a small soft cuddle Buzz - yes, we are suckers). So, there you have it. My only issue with it is that it seems like Woody will just randomly start talking with motion, and not just when the string is pulled. Interesting...

This is a great Sheriff Woody, although a little on the expensive side. There are only a couple things I find off about him-- first off, I'm not sure if it's Tom Hanks' voice or not-- sometimes it sounds like him, sometimes it doesn't. It's a bit of a surprise, since the similar Blast-Off Buzz quite obviously uses Tim Allen's voice. It's close enough though that I doubt a kid would notice, or particularly care, and he sounds very lively all the same. Second is the way his arms are stitched on; they're at an angle, which makes him look very natural when his arms are down, but makes them difficult to lift up. I'm not sure if the rag doll version is any different, but if your child is more interested in playing with Woody than hearing him talk, you may want to check. Finally, his battery pack (two AAAs) is rather difficult to get to-- it's approximately where his butt is, under several layers of fabric.

Other than those two relatively minor nitpicks, I think this is a great Woody, and looks a lot more accurate to the movie than a lot of other Woody toys out there. Everything looks to be of great quality and durable, including his pull string. His voice box can be turned off too, the switch is pretty easy to get at. And the 'hat recognition' works perfectly, you don't have to jam it on his head or anything.

Overall, if the price tag isn't an issue, I would definitely recommend this Sheriff Woody over all others.

Sheriff Woody was under the Christmas tree for my 4 yr old daughter. She loves Toy Story movies and only seemed appropriate to have her own Woody Cowboy doll. His size is perfect and exactly as the description states. She instantly latched onto him. He has numerous different sayings, and even though his pull string is a little different than expected he works perfectly even after months of rough play (today's technology has changed pull-string dolls). He looks just like Sheriff Woody on tv and the only bad review we've gotten as parents from my daughter is that . . . Santa forgot Jessie & Bullseye.

My 2 year old brother got this Woody doll a few days ago. So far there is no problems. I have a woody doll from when the first movie came out and when you put the two together there is a big diffrence between the two. I personally think my woody doll looks more like the one from the movie. My brother also cracks up when woody does his phrases as you take the hat off and put it back on. Overall its a good toy for younger kids.

We bought Woody for my three year old son for Christmas and Woody lost a hand that morning. We noticed a few hours after opening presents, but we couldn't find it anywhere. We thought it would be okay and my son didn't care, he was so happy with Woody. He loves the hat recognition! Then, about a week ago, my son came in carrying Woody and his head had popped off (still attached to the body). He's been very gentle with Woody, so I'm not sure what happened. I'm in the process of trying to hot glue gun his head back on, but it seems like the plastic doesn't even line up! I'm so annoyed that this toy didn't even last two months and there's no way to return it now, since we purchased it in November. But my son still LOVES him, so I'm trying my best and hoping I don't have to shell out the money for a new one.

My now 15 yr old son had a talking sheriff woody when he was very little and he adored it. My two yr old has become enthralled with the movie Toy Story so I went on a mission to find the talking Buzz and Woody. Woody was sold out of every store locally but miraculously Amazon.com had it. My son loves this and takes it with him almost everywhere along with Buzz, which can be quite difficult to keep up with all the time.
This one is not like the one my older son had though. Also, this newer one is almost impossible to keep his hat on. The voice sounds different, too. The Buzz Lightyear actually sounds like Tim Allen. I really wish I had kept the older ones...it was pretty costly to buy new ones, but worth it to see the look on my little one's face.

My son loves this toy! I'm so happy with this toy. I bought both the Woody and Buzz dolls and the Woody one is far better. (buzz was broke before I got him out of the box) My son has put this dool through a lot and it has held up great and he carries it every where.

While my 2-year-old son loves this doll, I am disappointed with the voice. It is not Tom Hank's voice. It IS a Disney licensed, so I was surprised by that. His Buzz Lightyear doll has the correct voice. Additionally, the box claims it has 25 phrases, I have not heard more than 10. The hat recognition does not work either. Of course, none of this bothers my child...

My kid love this Woody doll and he can't stop laughing with the phrases the doll says when he has lost his hat and then found it (my kid keeps taking it of and putting it back on). Very similar to the movie.

Our four-year-old loves Toy Story and was happy as a clam to receive his first Sheriff Woody for his birthday this month.

Honest to goodness, within a day of normal play with his grandmother, the knot in the pull-string unravelled, disconnected from the o-ring, and the pull-string ended up inside. How did that happen? Our son was devastated.

Amazon quickly sent a replacement. We examined the connection between the pull-string and the o-ring. The knot looked very secure, but we still applied glue to the pull-string knot as soon as the package was opened and while the toy was still tied down by twist ties. Clear nail polish on the knot would work as well. We suggest doing this easy and quick task to avoid our tragedy.

Here are some other observations:
1. Toy is floppy and unbalanced, and acts just as he does when a human is around in the Toy Story movies. Unfortunately, he tends to fall off of things frequently. This sheriff prefers upholstered seating and carpet over tile and hardwood. The nose on ours scuffed first.
2. Hat does not stay on very well. Constantly losing his hat. The hat is never to leave our house. It could be too easily lost, even in the car.
3. Toy can be a bit difficult to turn off or on. The Demo-Off-On button is on back, under his vent and shirt. Velcro secures the shirt together.

Despite all this, our son was very excited to have his Toy Story friend back and they haven't stopped having adventures since.
