3.0 out of 5 stars TOO COMPLICATED April 30, 2014
Verified Purchase
Call me simple, but the designers of this game are much too complicated for my liking.

Firstly, the login. I love saving my information online, and to do so with Terra Forma requires signing up on/with their own website. Not only could this be done simpler (many apps already use Google Play to sync user content), but the sign-up itself has several unique specifications which I find very bizarre. For a simple phone game, signing up with this company strictly require the creation of a username between 3 and 8 characters (something I've never seem before- it's as if the company doesn't expect there to be that many users of their game...) as well as a password which MUST include an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number, AND a special sign, as well as fit the limit of between 5 and 10 characters long. That's right... after all the complication to create a secure password, they limit you to a mere 10-character-length. What?!! And all this to protect the identity of my Terra Forma game account?

As for the game itself, I personally find the deceptively simple click mechanics to hide a rather unintuitive and frustratingly difficult gameplay. The idea is that, once presented with a certain block layout, one must click on different blocks, changing them in patterns to eventually successfully destroy ALL the blocks one is given... all this with as few steps as possible.

The graphics are quite nice- the pictures included in the app description look exactly like the block layouts you are given. Also, using one's finger to swipe the screen smoothly allows view of the blocks from multiple angles- a cool plus. The producers are clearly nice programmers, but dubious designers...

On my first try at level 1, it took me 44 moves.

4.0 out of 5 stars This isn't Your Kid's MINECRAFT April 30, 2014
Verified Purchase
First off, just so there no confusion, TERRA FORMA only superficially resembles MINECRAFT in using blocky, purposely low-res graphics. Beyond that, TERRA FORMA is a reduction grid puzzler, requiring some serious forward thinking and logical planning.

I made an online account and the first puzzler was to think of a password that met the stringent requirements AND be one I could remember. Yeesh! Without the convenience of browser-enabled password memory when logging into the game, I strongly recommend writing down whatever you decide on. *For those experiencing Online Account creation/login problems, I would wager a wooden nickle to a bag of network hamsters that the developer's server is not up to the task of handling FAOTD surge traffic. So if you are having issues, I recommend trying tomorrow.*

Gameplay interface is pinch/spread zooming, swipe rotation and single taps to reduce squares. That's it. Very simple. Very complex in terms of trying to destroy a planet in the least possible moves. (I wonder how many moves the Death Star would equate to.) And personally, it's the planet destruction theme that disappointed me. There are already thousands of reduction grid puzzlers out there, any game where you have to remove candy, gems, pets, blocks, numbers, fruits, chickens, etc by combination, so TERRA FORMA presents the same but with a graphics that mimics a completely different genre. With the name TERRA FORMA, I had hoped for a builder game, perhaps something in line of the venerable POPULOUS. Honestly, I lost interest.

3.0 out of 5 stars An OK app but I am glad I didn't pay for it! April 30, 2014
Verified Purchase
The game objective is to destroy planets by converting the land by tapping individual blocks and changing them into other types of land. There is a tutorial to the game to provide you with some basic game play rules. The game tells you the best score ever achieved and the average online scores and compares them to you score on a level. The key to this puzzle game is to understand how the different types of land interact and which conversions to use to minimize the number of moves to destroy the planet you are working on.

For me the game was just OK. After I created a local log-in I was able to play the app. Game play for me was not the exciting or interesting. I found myself just tapping the game pieces to destroy it as quickly as possible and not worry about figuring out the way to do it with the fewest moves. I rated the game at 3 stars as an OK app but not one that I would buy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Has something to it April 30, 2014

The premise of the game is great. You need to really think and work your way from level one. However for some reason the controls were not proper. The menu items were not responding and neither was the back button. Graphics and sound are not the priority in this game. On a unrelated note, the registration page had a non working submit button.

PS: Skip the tutorial. It hardly teaches anything; I think it exists only to let you know how complicated this game can get.
