Amazing Product,
This review is from: PixiModo Reflection 15" Digital Picture Frame (Electronics)
I dont usually write reviews...but this thing is insane. I'm a big tech freak and can say this item is superb...Its built better then Kodak models and has a amazing picture quality. Originally I was a bit skeptical buying this item as it was a brand I never heard of but this was a great buy. It was the lowest price I saw for this sized model, it cheaper then eBay! If you are looking for a cheap yet quality digital picture frame this is the one.

Good hardware, bad firmware,
By
This review is from: PixiModo Reflection 15" Digital Picture Frame (Electronics)
I was given this frame and am happy with the hardware. The picture is sharp and bright, it has several inputs, it comes with a remote as well as menu navigation buttons on the side of the frame, and it has a removable wall mounting bracket. However, the firmware (internal software) leaves a lot to be desired. There is no timer to make it turn on and off at certain times of the day-either you turn it on and off manually or add an external timer. There is no random play mode, so pictures always display in the same order from the beginning of the folder unless you manually select the starting picture. It automatically plays a slideshow of photos in the root folder of your memory card, but you can only store 256 files in the root. Saving photos to a subfolder fixes that, but you have to manually select the folder each time you turn the frame on. It has 1GB of internal memory which is nice, but if you want to transfer photos from a memory card or USB stick you have to do it one photo at a time through a slow, non-intuitive process. It displays the pictures from my camera, but if I edit them on my PC, they often do not display. Some pictures cause it to lock up, others display darkly, some have a wide horizontal band with corrupted colors, etc. I have tried saving the JPG files from several different programs with different options but none have fixed the problem. It also seems to have a problem with photos saved at 1024×768 resolution (the native resolution of the frame). This should be the best resolution to use...the photos do not have to be resized to be displayed, they take the least possible space, and load the fastest-they just don't display. The person who gave me the frame bought one for himself and has similar problems with it. I tried to contact Piximodo's support but they never responded to me.

Poor User Interface,

This review is from: PixiModo Reflection 15" Digital Picture Frame (Electronics)
The piximodo reflection 15 1gb does a decent job of displaying pictures and is relatively easy to connect to a computer. By resizing your pictures to a 1024x768 resolution you cam put over 1000 pictures on the internal memory. It can also display pictures on typical memory cards and can be hung on the wall. Of course if your computer is not next to where you place the picture you have to move it to connect the computer. Since it also has an internal clock and calender you need to reset these after every move. So it would be nice if you could easily copy pictures from a memory stick to the internal memory. This is possible but the number of keystrokes needed to accomplish this relatively simple task are amazingly long and complicated and requires an exact sequence that is not described correctly in the instruction manual. After the slightest mistake you have to start all over. As a result I fumbled with it for about 15 minutes before I discovered how to do this. The person who designed the interface was an idiot. It does not help that English was not the native language of the person who wrote the instruction manual.

Terrible Customer Service - don't buy from them,

Never buy from these folks.
We purchased one of the 15" frames from one of the vendors, Didgiframe. When we unpacked the unit the power cord was missing. After multiple calls the vendor we got no satisfaction. They would not just send a cord, but wanted the whole unit back at our expense. They were very belligerent about the whole thing. So we then called the manufacture, Piximoto and got the same person that we had talked to at Didgiframe! The story was the same. So another individual called the manufacture and even tried to speak with management - after all we just wanted a cord! Again very rude and unhelpful. At the end of the day we are returning the frame and getting a refund. We will never buy from this company again.

Stay away,

I bought one of these in October 2009. It failed after three weeks, and was replaced only after some haggling with the manufacturer. The second unit was delivered Nov 30, 2009, and failed one year and one week later. Picture is terrible, pixelated and wavy. The company basically said, "tough", and said these screens are usable only for an hour or two a day and then burn out. Rubbish, I say. They do not stand behind their products. When you add the fact that the user interface is clumsy at best and the instructions unhelpful, I would say buy from a different manufacturer than Piximodo. The low price turns into a high price when you consider the short life expectancy and lack of customer service.

Used 3 times, never worked, won't back warranty,
This review is from: PixiModo Reflection 15" Digital Picture Frame (Electronics)
I purchased it and used it 3 times in 6 months and it never worked correctly. I am supposed to have a one year warranty. I've been calling for over a month while they have been running me in circles. Wasted lots and lots of my time on hold on the phone. They have been rude to me. I am a really dissatisfied customer. BEWARE, THE PRICE IS NOT THAT GOOD!

I bought this frame for my mom a while back, and she has not had any problems with it at all. The black wooden finish fits in nicely with her living room, and with the 15 inch display, the pictures are crystal clear. My mom is the type to usually be intimidated when it comes to technology, but the software - while not fancy - is really simple, and she was able to figure it out on her own. It also doesn't freeze up like some other ones I've seen. The only bad part is that I bought this frame for over $300 and now see that it's being advertised for a lot cheaper in other stores when I search on Bing.

Terrible Customer Service - Poor Product August 26, 2011
PixiModo Reflection 15" Digital Picture Frame Never buy PixiModo or from Digiframes I purchased the 15" frames from Digiframes. The unit started making a clicking sound and finally stopped working after only four months of use. They want me to ship the unit back all at my expense. The worst part was they were rude as hell about the whole thing. So I called the manufacture, Piximoto and got the same people that we had talked to at Didgiframes! The story was the same, RUDE. I tried to speak with management and was only able to leave voice mails, calls were not returned. Didgiframes and Piximodo sell a horrible products and have an even worse attitude. Customer care is at a ZERO!

I've had this viewer for just over a year.
HATE THE FACT THAT IT WILL NOT EASILY VIEW MORE THAN ~100 PICTURES PER FILE. THE REAL ISSUE IS THAT THE POWER CONVERTER DIED. (PIECE OF CHINESE JUNK). PIXIMODO CUSTOMER SERVICE TOOK FOREVER TO ANSERW PHONE. AGENT IN INDIA (PROBABLY NEW DELHI)TOLD ME TO WRITE AN EMAIL. I DID AND THE RESPLY SAYS CALL THE CUSTOMER SERVICE. TALK ABOUT A RUNAROUND IN THE END I COULD NOT GET ANY SATISFACTION FROM THE EXTREMELY CURT AND ALMOST ABUSIVE SERVICE AGENT, EXCEPT TO BUY ($20)A NEW POWER CONVERTER / LEAD. IT DID ARRIVE FAST , BUT WHEN PLUGGED INTO THE VIWER IT WOULD NOT STAY ON KEPT TURNING ON AND OFF EVERY 3 OR 4 SECONDS. MY DEALINGS WITH PIXIMODO MEAN THAT I WILL DISCOURAGE OTHERS FROM BUYING THEIR PRODUCTS, AND WILL CERTAINLY NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM AGAIN!!!!. IF ANYONE HAS HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH THE UNIT NOT STAYING SWITCHED ON PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF AND HOW YOU GOT IT FIXED WAVYNAVY1@COMCAST.NET

I received my Pixmodo 15" Reflection Digital Photo Frame last Wednesday. I have had nothing but problems from the first time I plugged it in. I have emailed Piximodo last Wednesday and again on Saturday explaining my problems. I have not received a response from them. It would only play about 400 pictures. It saw the pictures and lists them in an index. But, it did not display the pictures if I put more than 400 pictures on the internal memory, or an SD card, or a USB device. The description of the frame states it will play 10,000 pictures. We are not even close to that amount. All pictures are JPG and all are at the 1023 X 720 resolution. In total, I have 472 MB of pictures.
I placed the photos into folders and finally got them to display. Then suddenly, the frame went blank with occasional flashes of color. Additionally, the automatic off works fine. However, the automatic on does not work. I goint to return this piece of junk. |
